Vitamin D deficiencies are popping up more as people spend less of their lives outdoors, and follow the "Slip Slop Slap" criteria when they go out.
It tends to get overlooked because doctors are used to looking for it only in the elderly, who don't get out in the sun.
Also, Medicare starts checking up on GPs who test things like vitamin levels, because the PC position is that you don't get vitamin deficient in Australia..

mickyj - it is very important to take vitamins with the right mixture otherwise it can be a waste of time (ie) Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) with liquid magnesium.

I'll find out what D goes with for you - the people that know reckon MD's have know idea - they are just realising that vitamins are the best defence

Mrs J puts out about 10 pills every morning and I just do as Im told

PS: she was a bit late with the Biotin.............

Vitamin D tablets vary - some contain mainly precursor forms that still depend on you getting out in the sun for the precursors to be activated.

Just quoting u Psyber not having a shot ;) .In summer I spend 4 hours a Saturday and sunday in the sun.in winter perhaps one day a weekend .
On holidays I am everyday four hours a day in shorts in the sun and water .
In fact I swapped an old eagles cap(I have worn it SWFF for the last 3 years) for a straw cowboy hat as I was getting burned in the sun!!! My arms are still brown from my last holidays .at some stages I think about getting land rights I go that Brown .

So any other reasons why I would be Vitamin D deficient .And the Game Eagles V Panthers I sat in the sun from 10.15 until roughly 4.30 .The sun was shinning on my face stopped the toothache for a short time .

And how does skin cancer start by the way fella's

The sun won't help if your diet lacks the precursors that the sun activates, or if you are not absorbing them properly.
"Slip, Slap, Slop" is a sensible position that has been pushed to extremes by fanatics - see the thread on extremism I just started in the politics section.

I actually thought that after I wrote the top part Psyber .
Perhaps the quacks should test me/us for all vitamin deficiencies to see what we are missing out on.And for the record I do eat vegies and grains.Perhaps cutting out stuff like cheese (I got addicted to it  self control of denial is easier than trying to eat small amounts ) wasn't a good idea .

Cheers

MickyJ - asked my father-in-law that knows this stuff.

Hallibut Oil is the best - Cod Liver Oil next. Has the other vitamins as well (A - I think)

This may sound a bit far fetched(as I told my wife earlier) but since I started taking this Vitamin D3 tablet(thursday) I have been a fair bit calmer .
I understand from reading the net that 1 side effect of Vitamin d deficiency is hypertension .
But I can assure everyone I have been a fair bit more "relaxed" at work.Normally I run around like a chook without its head trying to do 2 peoples work, but since Friday I haven't been .
Any way just thought I'd share that ;)
