Bunnings don't make a cent out of their bbq's, they offer the equipment out to local clubs for them to make some coin, there is a waiting list of more than 12 months at most stores. There is stipulations though, Australia-wide apparently, you have to sell the snags for $2 and I'm pretty sure cans of soft drink have to be sold at $1.50.
It's a great money spinner for local clubs, about $1000 for a Sunday, we done it in groups of two for two hours a shift from 11am til approx 4pm.

The Bunnings BBQ (Mile End definitely) are always run by charity/volunteer/community groups/schools etc. Bunnings provide the BBQ, Gas & marquee, the group who has the set up provide every thing else.
Bunnings limit the maximum sell price for the snags & drinks, to keep the prices constant between groups using the facility.
My daughters school did one a few months ago and made $1600 profit for the day.A great fund-raiser for the school.

Fortunately I got the first half a dozen good punches in that sorted the bastard out.
Im a fairly strong lad so was lucky but make sure you warn everyone that considers going there.

Posted: Thu Jun 04, 2009 2:09 pmOnce leaving Bunnings at Mile End I was stopped by a staff member who asked to see the receipt of sale for the item that I had just purchased, to which I replied "no thankyou". I was then told that it was Store Policy. I pointed out that it was not stated so as I entered the store in much the same way as Supermarkets have the signs stating they check all bags over a certain size etc. I stated that I felt it was an invasion of my Civil Rights to have to provide a receipt and continued walking out to the car much to the disbelief of the staff. Walking through the carpark I became aware that Security were following me, I didnt challenge them, simply got in my car and drove away and no attempt was made to stop me in any way.
I have an intense dislike of this policy of Guilty before proven innocent and that the burden of proof should be on the customer to prove that they havent been in the store theiving as they are attempting to leave the store. If Bunnings dont like Shoplifting, pay the security staff to wander around the store in plain clothes and catch people and then prosecute them - perhaps do what Harris Scarfe do in the Mall and not only prosecute but go for Civil Damages as well. Yet in the mean time, maybe they might like to treat the public with some level of respect as opposed to the current situation!

Saturday/Sunday at Bunnings Parafield netted our cricket club a massive amount of money last month..
Hard work, but well worth it...

Portland had one about 2 weeks ago at the bunnings on pt road, woodville
I called past for a bit to see if they needed a hand, were plenty of ppl buying snags
I believe the club made about $1200 for the days work, a great fundraiser for the club!!

You can't help but notice illegal practices that really put your life at risk.

Good to hear because that is exactly what we used to do at bunnings Marion but it was stopped as i said above. They can be a great money spinner for a community club and good luck to yours if they did well out of it.
Maybe there policy has changed regarding these.

Posted: Wed Jun 10, 2009 2:44 pmThe Bunnings BBQ came up on Perth talkback the other day. Usually they are run by scout groups etc but there's one store here that actually runs it themselves during the week and keeps the profits. Bunnings aren't that altruistic.
