Money coming in from all parts of the world but mainly Australians, makes you proud to be an Aussie when you see how we all pull together in times of disaster and need, know a group I am involved in on facebook have already raised 20k and i see a high school from Vic in 1 day raised 7k, great stuff by all in such horrific times :( :( to all those that have donated, money, clothes, food, blood, anything feel proud but lets remember there is still a hell of a long way to go, a long long way

Thanks for that Link Jas, I will post it elsewhere in other forums that I am involved in worldwide

No worries Locky...you might want to mention that if they click where it asks for 'State' there is an option for 'outside Australia'...just incase they think it's Aussies only...and you put your card details etc on the next page :)

Great thread Bayman.
It is very easy, when yuo live o/s to miss what's happening in Oz, but then the sudden impact of something like this is mind blowing. Amazing how a click of a button can change one's outlook on the day, and I used the internet for the first time in about a week yesterday and what I saw brought tears to my eyes. I remember Ash Wednesday, the fires licking up the hills and the red sky at night.
Yep, I have donated.

I heard they (5AA organised collectors) have asked for no more clothes, but still require bedding, toiletres, non-perishable canned food and pet food /leches for dogs, mobile phone chargers are also needed- alot of people fled homes with phones but running out of battery power.

Well worth waiting for to do weekly shopping. Good work Coles. I think Woolies is doing something simular but for drought affected farmers, they had it organised b4 fires.

INSURER AMP and retailer Woolworths have each announced donations of $1 million to the Victorian bushfires fund.

The AMP Foundation and Woolworths will contribute the funds to the appeal established by the Australian Red Cross.

AMP will also match staff donations up to $250,000.

The insurer said it would act quickly to process insurance claims in affected areas.

Banks including National Australia Bank, ANZ, Commonwealth Bank and Westpac have already donated $1 million each and Wesfarmers has pledged $500,000.

Where do the donations generally go? Houses will be rebuilt with insurance (hopefully they all have insurance living in high risk areas). Does the monies go towards rebuilding community centres, ovals ,memorials. I always hope that when you give a donation it will go to the people directly and not be divided up in admin fees.

Exactly Troy, which is why Im never keen to donate money. I'd rather go out and buy $100 worth of toiletries and pillows etc and take it to the showgrounds.

On my previous post I know that with all the generosity given to the Tsunami victims alot of money donated never reached victims, sort of makes me want to drive to Victoria and help out in a better way directly to the people animals affected.

I had to smile at my daughter tonight.

Once she heard there was a local drop off point in our community, she went into her room and found anything that she no longer needs/uses to donate to all the 'little kids' she keeps seeing on telly who have lost everything.

So now I have a box of soft toys, warm dressing gowns and bits and pieces to take over tomorrow.

This I dont agree with, why dont they just donate $1m like other major companies? or work out their average profit for Fridays and donate that?

Instead they try and get more mileage out of it by getting people in their doors  disgraceful IMO
