Have good friends out at Woodend which had a fire before the Aus Day Long Weekend. Hopefully nothing blows up out there again.
A terrible tragedy and my heart goes out to those families who have lost.
Hopefully SA and other states send as many units over there as possible, and try to help at least contain.....

Was this fire a natural disaster or an Arsonist?

Arsonists are right up there with Rapist's in my mind ... Such is the heinous nature of their crime(s).
My thoughts are with all those in affected area's and all firefighters putting their lives on the line to help others.

Arsonists are just about the worst criminals. They are Murderers, attepted murderers, vandals, terrorists and many other criminals. I saw it last night and my jaw dropped to the ground. Best wishes to all those affected by this disaster. 40+ people killed is unheard of in Australia, terrible circumstances. Just another thing aswell....Do people beleive that on Friday the CFS,CFA's news conferences claiming this weekend was just about the worst bushfire conditions the areas have ever seen then going on and on about it for the next 15 minutes is just asking the arsonists to "come on down"? I understand they have a duty of care but coming out and saying it in that magnitude imho is not the best way to do it. Maybe tell people to be on high alert but hearing it on Friday I was just shaking my head.

The latest news reports suggest arsonists in Victoria have been relighting fires in some areas after they were extinguished and resources redeployed.
I think deliberately starting bushfires, or building fires, should be defined as attempted murder at law, since the b......s, are knowingly putting lives at risk.
It then becomes murder when someone dies. An alternative is to look at the US charge of causing death in the commission of a felony.

When I finally become dictator of this fine country, I shall decree the following punishment for arson:
1. Tie arsonist to a chair.
2. Pile all the arsonist's worldly belongings at a safe viewing distance in front of him/her.
3. Liberally douse the pile with accelerant.
4. Strike a match, nonchalantly toss it onto the pile.
I'll make that decree my second priority. Right after removing the alcohol excise and standardising the names of beer glasses across the country.

here here...but i'd add i'd be more than happy to set fire to the arsonists myself, just heard on the tv that an arsonist(s) is restarting fires after they've been put out....as i said i'd be happy to set fire to them & they can know what it is like to suffer before they are burned alive

I think arsonists need to be forced into seeing, face to face, their victims or victims families just to see the misery and despair they have caused.

i can understand (not condone) if a place gets robbed...because the robber wants money, a murder for various reasons you could understand but an arsonist what possible motive/reason could he or she have ? (yes he or she as we had a woman ALLEDGEDLY light up in the adelaide hills about 2 years ago, there is no plausible reason to my knowledge to set bushfires, not even insurance & i feel for the animals that have no hope of escape

Tell you what i'd hate to see if the Arsonist was caught by locals in the act. would be lucky to escape in an ambulance 1 suspects...

I think SA was very lucky to avoid that; we had a small taste of Melbournes weather in the morning. Had the cool change not arrived when it did, Adelaide would have had a 47c-48c day.
The patrols in the hills made by police yesterday probably had some help in deterring arson. I went for a drive yesterday to Mt.Barker and there were plenty of police cars around.

How bloody heartbreaking is this ? Look at the photo's on the Hun site.
Whole towns wiped out...
Catch these bastards and burn them at the stake....
No bloody do-gooders civil liberty rights for those bastards...
Tragic, tragic scenes....
