I received a text message last night at 10pm, my 13 year old son received the same message at 11pm !!


It went like this:

For urgent assistance phone 000.
IMPORTANT S.A GOVERNMENT HEAT HEALTH WARNING:
Heat Stress Can Kill; stay cool; stay inside; drink plenty of water;
check the safety of vulnerable neighbours; listen to your radio.

Did anyone else get this message??

Seems to be a Telstra thing, which is fine, but did it have to be so late at night when children are sleeping with phones going off all over the house !!!

we all got it here (4 phones) as did a couple of mates i've spoken to earlier today, it is the elderly you have to worry about the most though because some of them wont turn on an air-conditioner because of the cost of electricity & perhaps the lack of fluids taken also

I do think the phone message thing a good idea.
But maybe more appropriate if they sent them in the heat of the day or something

Yep I got it around 11pm last night and thought it was a waste of time/money ... The elderly as mentioned are the ones to reinforce the message too due to their added vulnerability, and not too many of them have mobile phones I wouldnt have thought

Same here absolutely ridiculous time to send it out. I would like to know how they got hold of our numbers...........

Only two of our phones got a message and they were both Telstra.

3 hasn't had anything yet, probably won't either........

Im Telstra and the missus is with 3 and she didnt receive it

yep my work and personal mobile got them both and are both with telstra

I'm with optus and the Malaysians couldn't give a fat rats arse about how hot it is over here

With Telstra got one. My mum thought it was a phone call she was wondering who would give a call so late at night.

My girlfriend is with Telstra and got one, I'm with 3 and I didn't...

Obviously part of the message's advice was not about getting a good night's sleep, as the message surely would have woken up a few thousand people (especially elderly people) who would have been asleep when it was sent. Stupid.

so 25 cents for every telsta mobile phone in SA i wonder how many solar power plants that could have built?

maybe that's where he got our numbers from. I think Government Propaganda is exempt from that list and therefore he has easy access to the numbers if we are on it.

Did anyone reply to the number it came from ? Could you ? If you can send a message back telling Rann to pi55 off.
