How are the pets coping?

Sorry to start yet another thread on this bloody weather but I'm just wondering how everyones pets coped in todays heat.
I was home today and my fluffy ginger cat Chan didn't move from the kitchen floor, you could really tell he wasn't coping, even in an air conditioned house. My other cat Jackie was outside all day, she wasn't interested in the prospect of a cool house.
I'm dreading tommorrow when I go back to work and he has to be outside all day.
Last night I froze an icecream container of water which I put out for the cats this morning and it was completely melted by 11am.
Any other ideas on how to keeps your furry loved ones cool in this heat?

You're telling me a black cat isn't having issues with heat?

Chan has just gone outside of his own free will for the first time today.
I've got my neighbour to keep an eye on him tommorrow and stick an extra icy bucket of water out for them as well.
That's sad to hear about your chook Mickey
There was a black spider living in my pergola for about a year I reckon (He doesn't try to get in the house which is the only reason he's lived this long

)
However, the heat got the better of him today and I found him on the ground all scruched up.
RIP spidey...

Well my dog, two cats and bird have been inside all day with the A/C. They will stay there while it is this hot as well. No way i'm leaving them outside in this weather.

My dog's fine, if she had her way she'd lay out in the sun, she gets grumpy when we make her come inside to the airconditioning.
Even though she has a black coat she loves the heat, Im not sure how she gets so close to the combustion heater in the winter.
If we have to leave her at home alone we leave the air con on and open up a window near where her outside bed is and she lays in front of that if warm.
We give her a couple of big chunks of ice too but at the moment they're melting in about 2 minutes.

On Tuesday our budgie ( Pepe ) was inside but as we both were at work and the kids at school there was no air-con on. I came home to him laying limp and breathing heavily on the bottom of his cage. I was just about to play God when little Miss Boon arrived home and burst into a panic with her bird looking near death. After a spray from the mist bottle and a few minutes under the a/c Pepe went through some kind of resurection and was back to good health 30 minutes later.Lucky I didnt.
Our dog ( Beasely ) lives outside as 3 year old Beagles can cause chaos inside. His water bucket gets about a 1/3 of a bag of ice from the servo 3 times a day ( Mrs.Boon pops home at lunch to do the mid-day top up ) and when the sun has gone down enough he gets a cool bath before being fed and then lights out. I truly wish he would settle for long enough inside to stay there but we would not be able to leave him there all day by himself anyway.
The cat is a cat and if it goes and doesn't come back I don't care. ( It gets to share Beaseley's water )

Dog is in the laundry on the tiled floor, she seems pretty happy with that.
Cat refuses entry (fine by me, stupid animal) but is lying on concrete in the shade underneath the sub-floor ventilation vents, most likely getting a slight breeze from under the floorboards which would be cool-ish I suppose.
I'm working from home most of the day so the dog can stay inside as long as she likes.

You could always just leave it on or set it to come on at a certain time (if you have a timer that is).

I bring my dog to work with me. He just sits at my feet and enjoys the air-conditioned office.
He's a 13 year old Jack Russell, so he struggles when it's hot. Poor little bugger!

The aircon is programmed to come on at 3:30. Not that I am an eco warrior but having a ducted system run while nobody is home does seem to be a little bit of a waste.
