No places as such, but from experience make sure your host knows what job/career within their business you are interested in -I had one where I was interested in a specific career, but ended up spending all my time in the general admin area (it ws a big company at the time, so as a kid I was a bit afraid to mention it to anyone)

Back when I was at high school I did Work Experience at the Trans Adelaide Bus Depot at Morphettville in the Mechanical Workshops, had a great time! It was fairly easy going back then and I am sure that now it has been privatised things are likely to be a lot different though!

Mates of mine that did W/E at Edinburugh air port got to go up in the Air Force Planes so if they still permit kids to go there that might be one to look into!

I went to a vet. Got to watch neutering and euthanasia between cleaning syringes and scalpels. Maybe pick something else :?

I went to a primary school one time and taught PE that was good

My second one was at a gym.
Did the morning classes with all the soccer mums then they would send me home at lunch time!

A mate of mine did it at Adelaide Oval with Les - loved it!

You should try and hook it up with the fire department. Lift weights and play playstation all day.

I did W/E with a relative at,what was back then,Hindmarsh Adelaide. They sent me with a small leather pouch to go to the National Bank down Pirie St from the old Hindmarsh head office.

I stopped for a drink at a cafe and left the leather pouch there! It had, luckily,a bank cheque (no good for any one else) for $25,000 in it.

I went back to Hindmarsh Adelaide and the bloke looking after me said the cafe had rung and I wasn't to go back and get it.Someone "responsible" was going to do it.

My other one was at The Athletes Foot at West Lakes where the girl in the shop would call every man and his dog the 'C' word. She would even try and slip it into* conversations on the phone...

I thought I would like to be a kindergarten or school teacher.... so I did work experience in a couple of kindergartens, which was fine, and then went to a primary school to work with a teacher.... which then changed my mind

So I thought I'd try something completely different, and was going to go to a country newspaper.
But instead I went and did work experience in a radio station as a receptionist.
They rang me 3 months later and told me that that particular job was up for offer and would I like to apply :D
Which I did, got the job.
Was great fun !!

:D

PS: HOF, work experience really is a great thing. It can determine if you definitely like something, or definitley don't O:)
So make sure you get out there somewhere and do some work experience.
You won't regret it. O:)

Where ever you organise it at, try to find out what you would be doing there for the week. The best work experiences that students have are those where they get to do, or at least see/observe, things that are actually related to the job, and are something that you should find interesting. For example, I know someone who wanted to be a pilot and therefore did work experience at the airport. All he did was sit in a stuffy office all day and help with paperwork, so it didn't end up being what he had hoped (although I'm not sure what he was expecting).

Good advice Mic.

I did mine at Coles. It was alright. There was a bit to do, so time went quickly. I enjoyed it. Worked with a guy from dairy for the week. Got a reference from him. I applied for a job at another store a couple of months later and got it.

All I'll say HOF is don't go anywhere were there is machinery. Due to OCHS you can't do anything and you just stand around watching the other guys work or doing menial tasks. Like one of the other guys said, try to find out before hand what you'll be doing.
