Wtf is happening with this place?

I have heard (happy to be corrected) that a massive redevelopment is planned and that they are waiting on the trophy shop to relent and move so it can happen.

Missing 2 Christmases can't be good for their business though.

I used to really enjoy going there. You'd have to reckon that if the trophy shop hasn't sold up by now, they're not going to? It was decent before, they still have that same amount of land (obviously), so they should just bite the bullet and re-build it with slightly modified plans.

Of all people I thought you would be the last person to start a thread highlighting the fact a building has been burnt down...

I live close to the Walkers, it was quite a serious fire I have pictures on my webshots space below. Some time ago I spoke to the guy in the trophy shop, and he ain't selling! There have also been issues with regard to the demolition process, to try and spare the local residents too much grief. Some plans of the new structure, suggest it will be similar to the old, except 20 motel units and NO bottle shop :( I only lived within a few minutes walk of the Walkers, I basically only ever used the bottle shop and had a meal there once or twice a year, I didn't like the place because the front bar had a duke box (I hate having to listen to the apalling musical taste of some of the bogan patrons) and the rest of the place had the bloody pokies in your face and I detest pokies even though they are the lifeline of our footy clubs, it's a bloody tragedy to rely on those evil things to stay afloat financially.

No bottle shop, are they crazy, stupid or both?

I think it is the same mob who have the Tea tree Gully Hotel. With regard to the BS, I suppose they think there is too much comp from Fassina, BWS and The Hampstead

Dan Murphy is at Marden and St Peters as well and a new First Choice is opening this week next to the Hampstead. We are well served in our area!

Hammy bottleshop looks like it's closed down. Have they a stake in the First Choice that opened? There were a lot of good deals to be had there on Saturday's opening day. :partyman:
