Xmas Shows- the next day.....

Just would like your thoughts on what is acceptable at a work christmas show. We had ours yesterday and a guy who did a streak and partied pretty hard didn't front up for work today. He also mooned the steam ranger as it went past the car park as we were getting onto the bus!

Is it better to front up to work and face the music with a bad hangover the next day or do you need a days grace to recooperate?

If you make a twat of yourself it is best to show up and soak up the glory.

If I was his supervisor/manager/boss I wouldnt be happy with him being off today..

Went to one last year at a nice hotel one of the boys was feeling a bit seedy from the night before and had his sunglasses on you could see he was trying to sneak a couple of minutes of sleep. Then for $10 one of the other lads pulled his pants down and went and put his slug in his face at the dinning table, very funny also the same day this same bloke ate the foil that butter comes in for another $10 at the end of the day think he made a few bucks.

Yep, man up. Pay the price very quickly and it goes away. Apparently.

Although a work sponsored indulgence should be held on a day when there is no work on the following day.

Very weak to not rock up to work the following day though, that's what seperates the men from the boys.

Agree with most others, front up and take your medecine, generally ensures your antics are viewed with affable intent, but leaving your employers shorthanded doesn't do you any favours.

PS: Also agree that work shows likely to get messy, shouldn't require any of the participants to work the next day (just imho).

I don't think there are too many people operating at full capacity at work today. Feeling a little bit shabby myself.

They bosses are going to the USA for a month and this was the only day that it could be done.

at my previous job our xmas show was always on a tuesday night as the boss thought we wouldn't get stupidly drunk. i always fronted the next day, mainly because we headed to the pub for a recovery session at lunch.

a piss weak effort not to show your face the day after as everyone knows your hungover. i hope you abuse him more tomorrow than what you would have if he'd shown up today.

At our work we deliberately organise Christmas lunch for the 23rd and give the staff Christmas Eve off, generally makes for a pretty good lunch/afternoon/evening/(early morning)

Agreed, very poor form by this bloke not to show the next morning, especially as his co-workers would be doing the hard yards with a hangover the next morning ~o) ~o)

Can i work with you CP.
Normally ours is 2 weeks before xmas normally a friday and we come back to work on the Monday .this years is xmas eve and we have to do 8 hours work in about 6 or 8 hours(they always ring our shops and find more work). Plus O/T most days that week and the week after XMAS .
No choice either you have to go to lunch no matter what(they come around and ask if u will be there i am rostered on for 8hrs every week day) .One year we had lunch at 3pm when our 8 hour shift finished they weren't happy when i left at 3.05  I dont drink so watching my workmates get drunk is not something i enjoy.
Mind you sometimes the food leave a lot to be desired I have had a few cases of the runs from eating food at our work shows.
Plus before I forget we get given xmas gifts normally out of date products .And last year we were given promtional tshirts (from a product our stores stock) cost the company nothing and mine were to small so I gave them to family and friends .that didnt go down well with my work mates  .not to mention tiny radios that never worked .

I haven't had a boss or group workplace since 1975, but I do vaguely remember being locked in a linen cupboard with two nurses at a hospital in Adelaide at some stage just before Xmas that year.
I did front up next day. [It wasn't too embarrassing, my first wife and I had parted 5 months earlier.]

as someone who continually makes an ass of myself, fronting up straight away ensures that the music is faced quickly, most people will have a laugh (with you) & respect the fact that you make an ass of yourself, & it doesn't bother you.

Let's see, any product of that escapade should have been born about mid to late September 1976.
There's roughly a coupla mil up for grabs if you can prove paternity...
