Okay, Poll time I haven't done one for a couple of weeks

How well do we know our neighbours
I've given 2 options as most of us probably have neighbours on each side.
And of course there'll be those that live in the middle of nowhere... but I suppose the question still applies, just at a greater distance.

When I was a kid I remember our neighbours always popping in and vice versa... doesn't seem to happen these days... so thought I'd see if that is the 'norm' ??

On one side to me - well enough to hold a conversation with
on the otherside to me - a little bit - enough to say hello

"Enough to hold a conversation with" applies to the 3 immediate neighbours directly adjoining our driveway and where the house is.
Our semi-rural land abuts the back yards of several other houses and I wouldn't have a clue who lives in them, though I've said "Hello" to some them from a distance in the past, while walking the dog down the street at the front.

To the right, know them very well, get on well.
On the left, know them well enought to know that I DONT WANT to have a conversation with them

I live in a dead end street with about 15 houses, really good friends with about three of the neigbhours, and can chat with most of the others, we have a get together late nov/early dec for a street barbie and a few xmas drinks, is always good fun
have been here for about 4 years and we consider ourselves lucky to have good neighbours considering some previous locations some neighbours would lock themselves in and not even wave in the street (but each to their own)

even stand over the back fence and swap home brews with the fella over the back on a sunday arvo for an hour or so

To the left are a professional couple in late 40's no kids, nice house, pool, boat etc etc. Nice people who we have BBQ's with a couple times a year and always say hello. They support Norwood & the Crows

To the right are family, who have three older kids. I daughter is married and has moved out, 20 year old son, and 18 year old daughter who walks around in skimpy shorts and bikini.... They support Sturt & luckily Carlton

They are builders and basically organised our reno's ! Good people who we have a drink with and always a chat.

Well the neighbours on my left are an older couple and are very friendly, bring over food all the time and we usually catch up for BBQ's and that throughout the year, i picked very well - good friends for them.

The neighbour on my right is hardly ever home, drives a taxi most of the time, but everytime he drives past i give him the old wave, i would probably say a little bit - enough to say hello.

Where's the complete antipathy option?

Had to go for 'A little bit' cos we do manage to stay polite.

I live in a block of four flats...downstairs are binge drinkers and serial door slammers, they also enjoy revving motorbikes and angle grinding. Next to them are Jehova's Witnesses and the wife spends most of her time talking about everyone else over the fence (litterally) to her other neighbours in a Les Dawson kind of way. Next to me is a new one who I haven't met yet but she looks very, very girly and a lover of all things celeb and pink...we won't get on

Port Suppporters one side, Norwood the other, so stuffed either way really!

I live in a group of 3 strata houses all single blokes, one 80's and other mid 50's. We all go down Warradale pub weekly and get on great. I do like idea of skimpy bikini chick though!!!- hopefully one will 1 day buy one of houses.

On other side of fence is school- always a good perve at end of day when single mums picking up kids!!

Have no idea of people acrosss road as live on a main road.

Very nice people to right of us he is a glenelg supporter, and same go to the people on the left of us

Current neighbours (actually live below our flat) are a Pom and his Aussie GF and her sister (hotties but no bikini's like Jab ). We say g'day (or Hiya to the Pom) and they are nice enough to lend us their vaccuum cleaner, which is of course repaid with boooooze!

At home in Aus, we have a vacant block and don't know either neighbor, but on the LHS they've built a MANSION, which is good because it may help add value to our place when we build, but bad because unless we win lotto, we'll be dwarfed! Meh, keeping up with the Jones's is overrated!

All in all, bloody pain in the arse neighbours. They make a racket at all on godly hours, and stink the place out.

We rarely speak because I can't understand a bloody word they say, and the bull isn't half a jealous f$%ker. They don't drink alcohol and you should see the reaction when I mention coming over for a BBQ. Sheesh. And don't get me started on their pesky kids.

I live in Ipswich. We don't talk to our neighbours, we just buy a gun.
