Termination of Job

I gave my employer 4 weeks notice on the 12/9, they finished me up on the 26/9- effectively paying me out the final 2 weeks.
As of today, I still have not recieved any monies owing to me.
I recieved a feeble "we'll sort it out this friday, & pay you saturday".
Is this acceptable?

No.
From my experience if you have done the right thing and given them notice etc, and
they bring forward your finishing date, then they should finalise all payments outstanding
either before your last day or on the final day.
I'd assume that they collected all uniforms/work issued stuff, ID's keys etc etc ?
I know when I left my workplace I handed every thing back AFTER I had been paid....

.
companies have pay cycles, and when ive been in this situation ive just allowed for the next cycle to come through for final pay.
it all depends on how the company works in relation to pays and how much you need the cash

Sorry mate - replied to your PM, instead of posting here.
The pay cycle thing mentioned earlier is the standard practice unless any prior arrangement is made.

I thought if they brought your termination forward, they had to pay you all entitlements on the day you left.

That's exactly what I thought too.
When I've left jobs in the past, they handed me a cheque of what owed up to the date I left.

I would not have accepted that crap fullstop. .4 weeks notice

bloody hell thats rich ,I have been with my mob 23 years and only have to give a week.If they terminate me they have to give me 8 weeks notice or the extra payment of 8 weeks on top of leave and RDO accrued as I walk out the door. Proud To Be Union

In Australia, I understand that you only have to give as much notice as your current pay cycle. ie, if it's weekly, you only have to give a week's notice. However, it's courtesy to give a month or whatever is stipulated in your contract.
On your initial question, while it's a pain in the butt waiting for it, if this Friday/sat is the regular company pay run, I don;t think it's totally unreasonable to have to wait until then like you would have had to if you were continuing to work there. If they wait 1 day longer, I'd threaten legal action and if the cash isn't in your account the day after the threat, I'd see an employment lawyer as no matter how big or small the amount, you'll win, plus the muppets will be left with the legal costs and an expensive lesson in not being twats to their employees.

It depends on the pay cycles as people have said. Some companies to pay up on someone's last day, some on the next available pay day. We pay in the next pay cycle unless someone makes arrangements beforehand.
I had a look at the Clerks Award which is a good guide for other awards and it doesn't seem to have any clauses that say a final payment should be made before you leave.
Punky if you don't get it by the next time you would normally have been paid, then you may have a problem.
Devils Advocate - tying a notice period (either way) in with the pay cycles is a myth. All Awards specify a notice period that's independent of whenever you were last paid. However, some companies do use that myth to their advantage.

Have you got a source? I'm interested to know the correct rules.
