Is there anyone out there that knows the best way to get into the industry? I've been trying for about 6 months now, and havn't had much luck.

I've got my HR truck license, National White Card(which is just the new Green Card), Forklift license and have completed a Doggers course just recently.

I'm booked in for a Basic Rigging course on Oct. 8th - 17th, also doin Confined Spaces and Elevated Work Platform course in the next month and a bit!

And soon after will be looking at doing a scaffolders course and some sort of a first aid course.

I've registered with a fair few different job agencies and even called the mining companies themselves, and havnt had any luck what-so-ever!!

Are you prepared to move? If so, there are plenty of jobs around Roxby, Kalgoorlie, Kambalda, plus remote areas in QLD, NSW, northern WA.

Contact BHP up at Roxby (Olympic Dam). Can earn big money up there.

Biggest issue is getting accommodation first - get that sorted and you should be a walk up start?

Yes but literally speaking, you do need to get your foot in the door first - a door to a place to live! Check out a couple of recent four corners episodes on this issue - they are on line via the abc site. Focus on the mining in NW Australia and the social dividend (or lack thereof) of fly in-fly out mining staff.
