Carp - where can I get some?

How or where would the best place be to get carp?

To answer the impending question, I'm transferring some plants, which have outgrown their pots, into the ground. I'm going to plant them each on top of a couple of carp to give them something to feed on when the warmer weather kicks in.

Most convenient place is a pet store (gold fish are carp) but if you're after a bigger amount of them try the Murray mate! :D

Quichey - about a two minute drive from my place there's bound to be some of the bastard fish.
Come and take as much as you like - pop into my place for a beer though.

I think you can get them in the Central market. Some time ago they were $1.99/kg. I'm going up the river this weekend, only fishing gets in the way of the drinking....sorry

I couldn't catch a cold though, I'll drink the beer and you can reel them in for me

Maybe somewhere closer to home, the Torrens might have them?

Thanks Mick, I'll look into that, don't want to have to fork out much for them.

Thanks M80's, have used that stuff before, bloody good, but bloody smelly. I'm more looking for something to decompose slowly under the root mass.

Could you speak to your local garden centre and get something from there,or have your plants asked specifically for carp to munch on.

I thought you meant Crap  .. Carp is a commonly used alternative for the word crap on this site and had that been the case, which would then mean you were looking for poo, which is sold on the side of the road up Houghton way

Since when do plants eat fish?

There are other options, but carp is awesome for a range of nutrients and throwing a couple in the hole acts like a motherload of slow release fertiliser. I suppose any dead animal would work well, but I'm told carp is the best.

Dude, I can point a way to get a couple of cats if that would suffice....

I'm sure my next door neighbour wouldn't mind....

No good. Seems a stall at the City Central Markets sells them for $4.99 a kilo though. Might be my best bet save casting a line into the Torrens.

Mate - I've been fishing up here about 50 times since I moved to the region. Not once have I put a line in ;)

Oh, so you're one of those 'barehands' fishermen. Hardcore, DW, hardcore.

We call it fishing.
But it's just an excuse to get out and camp and drink beer.

The one time I did go fishing seriously, I drank too much beer, ate some really hot chillis and fell out of the boat. Good times!

Beer and hot chilies, eh? Wouldn't want to be sleeping in your tent.
