Correct. It's been on the cards for a while now. ATM there is a portable billboard on the road advertising that 15 July is the first day of closure.

From where to where? I recall many years ago it was closed, then it opened around 2000/01 again.

Not especially happy about it myself... the inconvenience began when the Bolivar train crossing was closed over a year ago, thereby stopping folks from taking the much-quicker back route to the DSTO. Closing West avenue will then make coming up Bagsters Road a waste of time too.

I think the plan is that access will henceforth be via Purling Rd, which runs north from the roundabout on Commercial Rd, along the train line, then turns West and runs along the southern boundary of DSTO, meeting up with the roundabout on West Ave.

Not sure of the reasoning. I'm sure it's been explained in numerous emails at work, but you'll have to wait until Monday for me to have a look.
