Website Probs

Postby Wedgie » Fri Mar 24, 2006 6:05 am

Hiya folks,
Sorry about the downtime yesterday, I thank everyone for their patience.
Ive been asked by my web server to somehow reduce the load on their servers to stop it from happening again.
For those unaware my account was suspended because "Your forum is using too much CPU power and memory. This has been for some time now so we will have to request to close (part) of your forum down as we will no longer be able to maintain your site as it is on the server."
If my webspace provider can't handle the traffic generated by this site I'll have to look elsewhere but rest assured I'll do everything in my power to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Looks like the site will need a new hosting service then.

There's certain to be more traffic when the season actually starts, so the problem won't go away.

I can't offer any advice for alternative services, so I'll just say the site has been excellent so far Wedgie.

Apart from blaming the server, I blame the "EP Sport Back With A Vengeance" thread...

Guys, I think I've managed to switch over the forum to new webspace today, the only downsides are:
1) we've lost the last 2 hours of posts which is how long it took me to get it working!
2) there might be some teething probs with posts or logging in or staying logged in, if you get any of these then email me at: mailto:admin@safooty.net
In regard to logging in and logging out or staying logged in, it might be worth clearing your cache in your browser first.
3) The private messages in peoples inbox or save boxes have not been transferred over (I didnt think this was worth it)

I've left a message at the old forum pointing here but the following urls should work fine:

http://www.safooty.net
http://www.safootycentral.com

http://www.sanflfooty.com had been accessable in the past but this will now only point to the old disabled forum.

Hopefully this will mean an end to any more issues like we had last week but at least if it falls apart on the new webspace in the next 25 days I can get my money back! :)

Yeah I closed down the old board after it appeared this one was working OK and just set up a redirection.
Crikey, now I have 3 URLs pointing to the same website, talk about disorganised! :?
