A good friend of mine was going about his business at the Elizabeth Shopping Centre.
Inside the mall itself were a group of individuals that were selling raffle tickets for a SANFL Club.
It was however not for the Central Districts Football Club. It was for the Sturt Football Club.

I was under the impression that this was a no no in the rules,
that you could not go into other "districts" and sell your raffle tickets.

I would normally only buy a ticket in a North raffle, but I'd rather buy a raffle ticket from another SANFL club than a AFL club.

I can remember buying one for Sturt (juniors) sometime in the last couple of years, I can't remember where they were selling them, somewhere in the Western Suburbs I think.

I'd imagine raffle tickets would fall under the same jurisdiction of all raffle tickets in the state, as long as you have the right permit and are going about it the right way you can sell them where you'd want.

Its a ******* raffle for fk sake! There is a Sturt raffle in the shopping centre in Ingle Farm all the time, probably twice a year. Ingle Farm is a fair way from Sturt and has a very different demographic than the Unly area (ie Ingle Farm people aren't snobby, up themselves wankers)

I would buy one ticket from Atilla the Hun if it was in a good cause ie. SANFL clubs etc. I always buy a book of NAFC tickets.

I think you will find that other than "at the ground" match day tickets, all other raffles are conducted by a promotion company.

Over here, the local shopping centres always have various clubs represented selling tickets. Under questioning, they admit they dont support "that" club, but it is a promotion company who pays a percentage to the club represented.

IE: over the past several weeks at my local mall, have seen three diferent AFL club raffles operated by the same ticket sellers.

Its all business in this day and age.

Intersting to know that those mall seller stands ie; amex, roof restorers, security door companies etc who hassle you for the "free entry to a trip to Queensland" are not allowed to approach you. By doing so they risk being kicked out. Front them on this and watch them back away whilst you are in the vicinity.

I have a personal hate of being confronted whilst I shop. If I see a mall stand that interests me, I will ask for information. Block my path and I get confrontational.

But then again I am a grumpy old bastard!

I like it at shopping malls when those promotional people approach you. They always ask you "Can I ask you a question ?"
I reply by saying "Yeah no worries"
They then ask you some stupid question. in which you reply no. Then they go to ask you another question.
Thats where you respond by saying " No.. At our first point of contact you said you wanted to ask me a question, not multiple questions."
"Perhaps you should have stated that you wanted to ask me multiple questions."
They look at you really dumbfounded. Then you just walk off.

I find no problems with other clubs selling raffle tickets. I sell mine to guys at work who then sell me their Sturt, North or PAP raffle tickets, its all good to keep the local comp viable. I will never buy Power or Crows tickets from people in shop walk ways though.

I'm all for it, if it helps in paying the clubs bills.

"Sturt" are selling raffle tickets at Centro Hilton. Made me think tho, that I'm not against them selling tickets- good on them for having the initiative. Generally, people sledge clubs/people who get off their backside & get out there. As Chopper says- I would throw a stow-away overboard in a flash, but if someone wants to swim through 100 miles of shit, I'll give 'em a ride.
