QUIZ NIGHT- raising funds for SAFooty

Hi guys

We are all so lucky to be members of probably the best footy forum going around this great land of ours. In large we owe our thanks to Wedgie for organising and more often than not, forking out of his own pocket for the site rental. Little do you all know that due to the massive growth of the site and constant upgrades, we are now looking in the vicinity of around $1200 per annum to keep this site running.

SAFooty thank our sponsors - The First Bounce and Harradine & Norris-Green for their sponsorship dollars but without further sponsorship we could possibly face not having a site at all! ( EEEK! What will I do at work all day??? )

SO.....

I propose to organise the "Ben Hur" of all quiz nights to raise money for upkeep of this site and at the same time donate (hopefully) to the McGuinness McDermott Foundation - a great South Australian Charity.

I have already had a quiet word to Magpie in the 80's who has kindly agreed to be our quizmaster for the event...

However I need help from as many of you as humanly possible....therefore, I need the following;

A) A venue to hold the said Quiz night, that will seat 200-300 people. (hopefully at no charge!) Somewhere central to town would also be good...

B) Donations, Donations, Donations! For door prizes, raffles and 3 or 4 memorbilia items to auction off on the night.

I'd be looking for vouchers, bottles of wine/spirits or anything that would make a good raffle prize.

Please PM me if you can help with any of the above (any donations can be kept confidential at your request) or if you can help out on the night, ie: selling raffles, scoring etc...

This will be getting a plug with any luck on KG, RPH, Grass Roots and will be strictly pre-purchase tickets only

I really hope that if I can get this off the ground that ALL SA Footy members will get behind the night and help keep our fantastic site up and running for years to come!

More details to come (with YOUR help!)

Cheers

FC

Agreed, excellent stuff Chicky!!

Now, just so I know how to sell this event to friends, what type of quiz are we looking at ... Like an all over quiz, or just sport/footy?

Phil Herden organised a fantastic Quiz evening at Oval Avenue prior to the 2005 SANFL Grand Final.

Great Venue, wonderful people.

Cheers!

=D> Fantastic idea FC

Of all the ideas suggested for getting contributions this has to be the best. Just wish I could go.

I know I've mentioned this a few times in the past so I apologize for playing the same broken record yet again BUT if Wedgie and co could organize something like PayPal account (easiest for me) for the forum I would be delighted to add what I can as either a cash donation or for the purchase of a raffle prize. I'm sure a few other geographically challenged forumites would contribute too.

Regards
JAS

Good luck with that. They would'nt even give the captain a discount for his 30th at one stage.

funny that. didnt charge us for the fundraising day. $100 cleaning bond which was returned when we cleaned up club ourselves. they offered the same deal to footy forum only waiting on date now to see if club is available and if footy forum wish to take up the offer.

By the sounds of things it will be a general knowledge quiz; but there will be good money that there is an SANFL section.

Hi everyone

Just an update on goings on..

The date that's been settled on at this point is Saturday March 15.

The venue at this stage is still undecided (due to christmas closures etc.) but Broadview is looking good at this stage. If that fails, I will ask the Amateur League if we can use Thebby Oval although I don't know how the licensing laws will work at this stage as they've only just taken over the place

Tickets will be sold in tables only and will be pre-purchase only, with tickets being available at the First Bounce stores or via paypal and we send the tickets to you. It looks like only being 20 tables available so it will be first in best dressed!

Tickets will be $150 per table of 10 ($15 per head, which will include 3 door prize tickets and a ticket in the major raffle.

If there is anyone reading this that is a publican (or knows one really well) I'd love a PM so we can organise some bottles of vino/Jim/Johnnie for the raffles...

It will be BYO supper but if we have it at Broadies it will be strictly NO BYO alcohol as we would like to support whichever club is nice enough to donate their facilities to us..

Any questions or anything you think I've missed, give me a yell...

Cheers
FC
