Luckily I didn't have to go, the son preferred a Rey Mysterio doll to actually going to the show so that saved me a packet.
Missus and daughter still managed to flitter away $300 easily enough though when they went on Sunday.
Probably a good year not to go, apparantley its packed especially with the Centennial Hall no longer being there.

Haven't been for a couple of years. Only reason I went the last few times I did was to get the SACA showbag to get the season ticket, and now you get them from the SACA office, I have no need/inclination to go to the show.

went with the missus on sunday, bit of a thrill this year as we went with no kids, they are both old enough to go on their own and pay for themselves, so it was decidedly less expensive, although the missus relented and said "lets get the kids a couple of show bags"
I enjoyed it though, wandering around, checking out all the animals etc

Sh*tty food, bogans, expensive rides, junk you don't need, stabbings, queues to filthy toilets, fat people eating the chocolates from their 20 showbags, Amanda Blair's pastries...ahhh...the Adelaide Show.

I'm going Friday ;)

Went on Saturday with the 3 mini-smacs.

I dropped 5kg from cash spent. Put on 5kg from crap food eaten (1 dagwood dog per year is plenty), life is balanced once you leave that place!

Pig races, dogs, cows, petting zoo, super shammy, 1001 ways to chop your veges, laughing clowns, giant slippery dips, mad mouse, fairy dolls and plenty more, I am sure, that I have managed to repress.

The kids smiles were as wide as their faces. That's good enough for me. :D

"Hot American donuts! Try these, making, baking, cooking all the while! Look through the glassed in window and see them being made!"

Now, who's got this running through their head now? ;-)

Seem to be able to hear this damned mantra from every corner of the place!! :-) :-)

Was discussing the expense of the Show with some friends today, and apparently the majority of the expense come's from the Showground itself (I obviously have no way of knowing if this is true or not, although the people who claimed to know, seemed to make sense).

Anyway, it got me to thinking ... Is there anywhere else in non-regional SA that would be capable of hosting it?

Bonythong Park, Parklands etc. would they be big enough?

The Jamestown and Crystal Brook shows are great alternatives...

Coming from Crystal Brook have very fond memories of show day, still going strong and they got a huge amount of people this year, show has been going from over 120 years so it has stood the test of time.
