People still get arrested, and still loose their drug of choice. If you have under a certain amount, you aren't charged. So it is all still recorded in the statistics.

I'm sure they collect plenty of statistical data from hospitals etc.

The sooner people accept drugs aren't going away, the sooner the real problems involving drugs start to be dealt with. Addiction, crime, health etc. The amount of money wasted on enforcing and incarceration of small time drug users is stupid.

Legalising cannabis is actually an economic boom for governments. That's why states in the USA which are broke have started to legalise, despite being the lords of the drug war.
