- Watching the local, Adelaide based, Top 40 countdown on Channel 7 on Saturday mornings. Taken from the SA-FM charts and hosted by SA-FM DJ's (I remember Jeff Allis being one in particular), it was a great chance to see some of the local acts get some exposure* for their videos. I had a bit of a thing about trying to support local music where I could, and buy their music, even at that age (13-14 or so), so when artists like Scary Bill ("Western World), Seven Stories ("Sleeping Through Another War"), The Garden Path ("Just Like You") made it on there, it somehow seemed to make you proud to be a local :)

LOL, yes, it WAS a weasel. When I first saw it, I wondered how a ferret lived in such cold surrounds. Glad to know I wasn't the only person watching at least :)

Haha, no, didn't know that one - I looked up the lineup after you said this, and nobody jumped out at me, though.

Actually come to think of it I don't think he played on this album (the last one). Dave (brother of Bill) Lokan. He's also a top rate producer.

Had forgotten all about these until I happened across them completely unexpectedly yesterday in one of those "imported lollies shops" (the ones that stock UK and USA lollies and drinks).

Did anyone else use to buy those little plastic rubbish bins that were filled with lollies in the shape of rubbish, eg fish bones, tin cans etc? They can still be bought out there in these shops :), used to use the empty bins for paper clips and erasers in school.

(They also had Pop Tarts, which surfaced briefly in Australia and Reeces Peanut Butter Cups - which I have a bad weakness for. Along with TAB Cola)

Geez, had forgotten some of these shows altogether until someone at work mentioned one and that triggered them:

Bangers and Mash
Danger Mouse
Never watched this much, but plenty at school did - Degrassi
Simon Townsend's Wonder World
Vidiot
Inspector Gadget
You Can't Do That On Television
The Zoo Family (one of my earlier crushes - Rebecca Gibney)
Monkey Magic
Alexander Bunyip
Kimba The White Lion
Astro Boy
Inspector Gadget

(yes, we watched a lot of ABC growing up)

I watched a lot of ABC as a kid, mainly because I lived in regional areas on the Eyre Peninsula where tv reception was limited, including Ceduna which only had ABC in mid 80's when I lived there.

I recall shows such as Metal Mickey, Super Gran, Shirls Neighbourhood, Secret Valley, Felix The Cat, Roger Ramjet, Home (a little similar to Home and Away), and Sweet and Sour. Plus appearances from Peter Russell Clarke ("come and get it").

ABC was particularly good in school holidays when they would show cartoons each afternoon, Secret Squirrel etc. There was also the one with the talking(?) car (not Knight Rider!).

I also enjoyed The Zoo Family. Other after school favourites I recall (when able to see Adelaide tv) included Top Cat, Match Mates, Wombat, The Curiosity Show, Now You See It ("line 1, position 4"), the original version with Mike Mead.

Went to primary school with a girl who had appeared on Match Mates. The main thing she remembered from it was the host, David Waters (Brucetiki will remember his role on "Prisoner") had warts on his hands

Used to love Now You See It - but must admit, it got even better when the new host appeared - Sofie Formica :D

Yep, i posted a video a little while ago showing host of Match Mates on Prisoner, I hadn't realised the connection until i'd checked out a few Prisoner Youtube vids and thought one of the characters looked familiar. Its actually quite amazing how many familiar actors/actresses appeared on Prisoner, not to mention Ian Smith ("Harold Bishop") writing some episodes I believe.

Sofia Formika was good too, appeared to disappear about 10 or so years ago just as her tv career was going well. Last seen spruiking Tony Robbins videos about 5 or so years ago on late night tv :)

The Great South East host, Sofie Formica began her television career at the age of 14 and hasn’t looked back since. Her resume boasts appearances on Wombat, Saturday Disney, Now You See It (as Australia’s first female gameshow host), Just Kidding, Home and Away, and she was an original member of The Great Outdoors.

In 1995, Sofie moved to Los Angeles and worked as a reporter on Extra, a national entertainment magazine show. During this time Sofie interviewed many Hollywood celebrities including Bruce Willis, Meg Ryan, Nicole Kidman and the cast of Friends.

With her profile rising, in 1999 Sofie was hand-picked by Oprah Winfrey and appeared in a 13 part series Oprah Goes Online.

Since that time, Sofie has taken a hiatus, returning to Australia with her husband Scott to raise their twins, Jack and Jessica and daughter Emily. Sofie returns to the screen as host of The Great South East, and couldn’t be happier!

You can catch Sofie each Sunday afternoon on The Great South East.
