At one stage in SA traffic lights for vehicles on roads had a counter system that depended on a strip sensor in the road surface, set back from the junction.
The idea was that they could give priority to the road with more traffic, but people took to backing up and driving over them multiple times.
I don't know whether the pedestrian buttons have a counter or not, but if people think they do that may explain the behaviour.

Coming to the end of a rare week off firstly, and secondly, pondering whether to shave off the week's facial growth in the meantime. I figure that, the combination of that and a new haircut, may be too much for work, though.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

I did think of it, BP, but wasn't sure the world was ready for a month of my growth*. Between that and a pretty short haircut, it looks...different. :)

If I had done it in a cop shop, I would have put this in the "Things you rate" thread, and gotten eternal bragging rights over my mates... But sadly no...

The pub shut, and everyone was milling around the front, waiting for taxis/pickups, etc... I just walked about twenty metres away, and started to do the business, and didn't realize that there had been a bit of a fight, and the cops were there...

The technology and lay out may have changed since I rode a bike last.
The thing I remember was the need to set it so that when you grab them in an emergency the back one comes on slightly ahead of the front. Vice versa can be a disaster.
The easiest way was adjusting the rotating tensioner ring [which used to be on the back of the grip handle] so the callipers of the rear were slightly closer to the rim than the front ones.
