I spent three years at Star Of The Sea, further up Military Road and we used to have to line up there for school excursions into the city. Back in those days, we also used to have snacks at the canteen called Chicken Cackles, which were great, but I haven't seen them around in years :(

I just did a bit of research, the line was closed in Dec 1929, reckon you would have to be a bit older than 40 to remember that!!

I didn't know the tram line was originally a train line, the 2 competing train companys amalgamated then later sold them both to the MTT, when the tram line was electrified the Glenelg line through Plympton was closed and replaced by buses

Closed down shortly after the Golden Grove Bowl opened, from memory. Clovercrest was self scoring, and Golden Grove had the new fangled "automatic scoring"!

Ah automatic scoring - I'm amazed how inaccurate automatic scoring can be! Used to love going to Salisbury and Elizabeth because they still had self scoring until about 2004 before Bowland bought Salisbury Bowl and Elizabeth Bowl was also sold, resulting in renovations to both.

The old pinsetters from Clovercrest ended up at Bowland in Ingle Farm many years later

Anyone remember those brown bags you'd write your lunch order on at school, and put the money inside.

Do they have anything like that these days?

Playing street cricket, and having to move the wicket when a car arrived.

Playing street footy, and learning to keep your feet to avoid the spill into the ashphalt.

Riding to SANFL games, and being able to leave the bike chained outside the ground, and being pretty confident it would be there upon return.

Knowing the words to this ad..."What DOES it take to make a grown man cry? Perhaps if we..."

When All You Can Eat first started at Pizza Hut, and not having room to buy one of their gingerbread men afterwards. I LOVED those gingerbread men, miss them a lot.
