The fact airlines would prefer to jack up prices for a ticket, rather than sell out flights.

I would understand a 50% increase but some airlines are charging more then 300% more for tickets this weekend

Maybe try a nearby regional centre such as Geelong or Ballarat then get the train into Melbourne the morning of the GF.

Get a motel in Geelong, there's a train and it only takes about an hour.

yeah, or even better Ballarat - train costs about $15 to get in and the accommodation is cheaper.

The hotel we stay at in Ballarat has a coach go in of the morning of the GF. Might only be for when the SA based clubs are in there so would need to check, but that is a very good services.

Seeing i will be getting written off and catching cab to wherever im staying can't be faraway.

4 people is no good to stay at friends house and i don't know anyone in Melbs with that room anyway.

Found a sleep and go budget room (single beds) in Preston.
Should be a goer...
