South Eastern Australia only has a 30% to 40% chance of exceeding median rainfall over the period May to July 2013.

Lets hope the period August to November are a bit more favourable.

I heard Sarah Hansen-Young on TV saying we should have built a reclamation system rather than the desalination plant.
First time I ever thought she was making any sense.

SOME water will go out to sea BUT what I was getting at was regarding the millions & millions of gallons of water that consistently go out to sea in the north of Australia. The councils in Adelaide, in particular Salisbury, are world leaders in water harvesting/farming, with swamps & wetlands utilising the water before it goes out to sea. Plus a lot of new housing estates are adopting the lilac pipe system, whereby reclaimed/recycled water is stored off site & pumped to all new houses & out of a separate tap, coloured lilac, obviously! Not to be consumed, of course. So, we're trying to do our bit, what's everyone else in Oz doing? Does anyone know?

Yes.
