Was always good because you could park in such a spot that if your movie was crap you could at least watch the other one .. Living in the West we used to go to the Blueline regularly, both as kids and then young adults with the eskies.

Were always enjoyable and inexpensive times.

Some of the others

Elizabeth - now the suburb of Hillbank
Hollywood (Salisbury Downs) - now Hollywood Plaza but the shell of the screen remains with a Hollywood sign attached to it

There was also a Greater Union twin drive in on Oaklands Road, next to the bus depot. I believe it was closed when the Marion Megaplex opened and is now a housing estate.

We were spoilt for choice in the Marion Area.

Greater Union Twin on Oaklands Road (trash and treasure every Sunday as well)
Parkline on Marion Road (on the left heading south between the council depot and Sturt Road)
Skyline on Majors Road at O'Halloran Hill

I think there was a Valleyline somewhere in the northeast part of town but I can't be 100% sure where. St Agnes rings a bell for some reason.

Cheers

Rob

EDIT: Of course it rings a bell. CK already mentioned Vallyline St Agnes in a previous post. Wake up Rob you dumbass.

Drove past the Gepps Cross one on Saturday evening returning from amateur Football out North at about 5ish there would have been 10/15 cars lined up waiting for the gates to open.

There was a drive-in at Christies Beach, fairly close to Colonades.

That's right. Was the most recent one to close in 2003 and is now a Stratco. Used to love the Valleyline in it's last years as it was very old school (little had been done to it since it opened bar the FM broadcast so had the real retro feel that Mainline somewhat lacks).

O'Halloran Hill also. The screen still stands and there is a push from local residents to have it reopened.

That's a lot more than I ever thought

I make it, in no order:

- Pasadena
- Seaton
- Mainline
- Blueline
- O'Halloran Hill
- Elizabeth
- Hollywood Drive-In
- Oaklands Park
- Valleyline
- Christies Beach
- Hectorville
- Gilles Plains

This doesn't include country ones, such as Murray Bridge or Port Elliott.

First movie I ever saw at the drive in....

Christies Beach Drive In - Jaws O:)

Spent lots of time with my friends at Murray Bridge drive in at the ages of 16/17.
And at the same age spent time up at the Riverland - think the drive in there was at Waikerie?

Barmera I think. I also went to the Murray Bridge one a bit as a kid, was a nice easy trip from Mt Barker where I lived.

- When the first DreamTeam competitions were on newspaper coupons and posted in to The Age. I was lucky enough to crack* the top 50 Australia wide one week in that first season (1994).

- The Playground at Bonython Park (the proper one, not the plastic ones nowadays)

- Pelican rubbish bins at the Zoo, where you would put your wrapper of the Bush Biscuits you bought there

- The STA Transport Information bus. Used to go to shopping centres where you could pick up timetables, maps etc

- Getting a haircut at Arturo Taverna and Ferres Trebilsie (spelling?)

As a wee young fella on a school trip I got to feed Mr Percival by holding out a fish clamped between a couple of sticks. Got given a sticker which read "I fed Mr Percival".
