The National Pharmacies at Morphett Vale. I've lost prescription repeats in the past and as long as I go to the same chemist I got the first script filled from, they'll have it on record and be able to give me the medicine if I show them photo ID. Today I couldn't find my script anywhere so I went to the chemist but the assistant said they couldn't dispense medicine without the script - regardless of what their records were - and then asked me if I needed help remembering what the name of it was or how to use it? I think she thought I was a drug addict. I just didn't feel like brushing my hair today, that's all. All the doctors were booked so I had to get a locum in to write me a new script.

Beetroot. What a useless vegetable. It's purple, it stains, and it doesn't go with ice cream.

Which gives me an idea for a new thread..... ;)

Some years ago one of my mates got bit by a redback. When the pain became too much he fronted at one of those turn-up-and-take-a-number doctors surgeries. The doc who attended to him gave him a shot of adrenaline and told him to go home. IOW, the doc simply assumed he was a junkie.

Much later, and after considerably more pain, he fronted at FMC where some antivenene was administered.

I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

I don't have the actual legislation to hand, but, from memory, it is technically correct that they should not supply the medication without a prescription if the medication is approved for prescription only.
Also, they don't get paid for dispensing by Medicare if they can't produce the processed prescription. It works rather like the paper credit card system.
Most Pharmacists will however take the risk with their regulars they know, and there are provisions to allow emergency supply in some circumstances.
Some may have a system of scanning the prescription on first sight and thus have electronic proof of it if you lose the paper.

Some like to "keep your prescription for you" to prevent this problem, and of course it makes sure they get your business.
But, while most Pharmacists are honest, a few less scrupulous ones will regularly "lose" prescriptions they are holding and require you to get a new one.
Then they get to claim from Medicare for filling the "lost" repeats without even supplying the medication.
I ran into this pattern more in Melbourne than Adelaide - for example, patients being told their prescription was finished when they should still have 2 repeats.

I think apples are cheaper and therefore those products offer a higher profit margin.
It will get worse if they do get the approval to import Chinese apples and apple products they are pushing for - and that could be the end of Australian apple products too.
