That's the problem. We equate racism with morality, thus implying there must be intent. Racism isn't confined to the morally corrupt and can occur without intent.

How about if I called him a "dog" for eating my last hot chip, like I would for any of my other mates (white, brown, black, magenta). If I said it with no racial thoughts behind it...is that racist?
