just watched a doco on that. ken burns - baseball... very interesting... the 8 were originally found not guilty by the surpreme court but the baseball boss then barred them from life... they only got $5000 of the the intended 20 thousand which was origiinally the amount they got for throwing the series. the guy who planned it got away scott free... however was shot to death in a poker game years later.

Can you remind us about this incident, can't remember it.

So Mal Michael (Brisbane defender) gets the ball, under a small amount of pressure, and decided to rush a behind.

Nothing unusual about that, as it is a staple of a good defender to know when to do this.

Except that the pressure came When Michael was 35 metres out, and he conceded the score by kicking the ball right through the middle of the goals.

Created a furore in the media.

Thanks MP. Remember the incident itself now.

Ontario down by 1 or 2 points about to take a field goal attempt to win the game, no time left. It's about 30 yards out IIRC.

The kick is taken, and it's a shank. Misses. Game Over.

But wait, there is a flag.

Mantioba have too many men on the field. Ontario get to take the shot again.

It goes through.

Nice one coach.

Someone who knows more about the NFL in America might be able to elaborate
Sometime around 1999 Minnesota dominated their division all year but then missed a goal right at the end either in the game before the Superbowl or the Superbowl itself. S'pose this is more of a choke.

Then couple years ago Brett Favre, Packers legend who went to Minnesota and I believe hadn't been overly embraced by their fans, in the game before the Superbowl only had to wind down the clock but made some low percentage pass that, from memory, was picked off for the opposition to score the winning touchdown.

On Patrick Wiggins, this was posted on a different forum in July last year...

I note the great man Patrick Wiggins kicked 6 goals for Sunshine against Hoppers Crossing last week.

Apparently resigned from the South Australian Police Force after being found guilty of jumping the fence and head-butting a supporter during a West Adelaide game in the SANFL.

Appears to be in form. Possible mature age recruit?

Really!?!

He never headbutted any supporter, but would have done so if wasn't quickly restrained from doing so by the West Adelaide official.

He did however get reported for headbutting a North player on the field.

There's another contender - tennis player David Nalbandian who kicked some advertising boards which in turn cut the shin of a linesman.

He was defaulted from the Queens tournament as a result.
