Having a Foxtel guy knocking on my door trying to get me to sign up. When talking about about the sports package he tells me, "It will only cost about $17 a week, what sport can you get into these days that costs less than that?"

I can think of one that does...

Surely it's not that much? That would have to include your basic package of channels too. If not,

The Foxtel website seems to be very cagey about telling you exactly what it costs - they seem to want to get you on the phone so they can put the pressure on.
Last time I spoke to a rep, at a shopping centre, it was $39.95 a month for the basic junk, then about $15 a month each for sport and any other add ons.
The web site doesn't load with Opera and says my version of Firefox doesn't have the latest flash player, which it does.
Like Telstra sites, it appears to be highly IE-centric.

I'm wondering if my firewall set up won't let it read what my browser does have, and that why it reports that I don't appear to have the latest flash player...
It doesn't arise with most sites, and I did wonder if they just wanted to plant a tracking cookie.

Today - My daughters school !

They have this you bute text message system that if a child isn't in the morning's roll call then they text you and say 'Your child is not at school today - please phone and tell us why' type thing.

This if fine, this is great, kids not attending school has reduced, etc, etc, etc.

However - they do make mistakes - last year they text me and I rang the school and said "Um, she is there" and they said "Yes, sorry about that - the girls name under hers was away"
That's fine - mistakes happen, blah, blah, blah.

I just get a text message - "Your daughter is not at school"

So I rang the school and get a 'new' receptionist person
The conversation goes like this-

Me (Politely) "She is there"
School (Abrupt) "Well she must have been late"
Me (Politely) "No, she wasn't late"
School (Abrupt) "She must have been late, you need to tell her to report in if she's late"
Me (Now getting cross...lol) "I'm sorry, but she wasn't late and mistakes do happen in this system"
School (Abrupt) "Well you need to contact her and tell her to sign in"
Me (Angry & not feeling like continuing to bang my head against the wall) "Thankyou" - hangs up

Ring my daughter can hear heaps of kids in the background...
Me "The school thinks you're not at school"
Daughter "Are you serious"
Me "Yep, so were you late to class"
Daughter "No, but it's a new teacher and he was just ticking names off, he didn't actually say my name though"

I ring the school back - get the same angry grumpy lady - I ask if the other lady is there (The nice one)

School "No, I'm doing her job from now on"
Me (a bit grumpy) "Well my daughter is at school, the teacher didn't call her name out this morning"
School (Very happy and polite) "No worries, thankyou for ringing"

grrrrrrr & WTF
Talk about Jekyll and Hyde

Sorry to rant... ... but it just made me cross...
First of all kids are told not to have thier mobile phones on and why is it up to me to contact my daughter when she's in their school ??
(Normally I wouldn't have minded all this - in me contacting my daughter - but the ladies attitude - unbelievable)

I want the other nice lady back :(
