Cold Big Sars on a summers day while playing in my Great Aunts backyard at Brompton, picking grapes off the vine and apricots off the tree while running around...good memories. Good memories indeed.
Sadly her house, when she passed away, was eaten up by the Clipsal juggernaut.
I'm with you there Booney. Woodies Lemonade and Big Sars were tops.
Our house in Bowden had an Apricot tree and a Plum tree, and the kindly neighbours had several varieties of grapes growing, and were generous with the Big Sars supply.

Too right. Only lemonade in my household as a kid and also now as a grown up(well sometimes) Also good mixing with a good raspberry cordial, drives the kids into a hyperactive frenzy. Some servos sell a 2lt for $1.79

I don't think Woodies is as good as it was when we were kids, Schweppes is much better than Woodies is now but not as good as I remember Woodies being

Learning Road Safety at the Road Safety School, either at Oaklands Park or Port Road, on the bicycle. Riding around the track, with the traffic lights and road signs set up.

Noticed in today's paper that the Port Road site closed yesterday after 40 years of operation.

Cassingles :) . The ideal innovation at the time if you didn't want to buy the whole album, and while most were $2.99, there were often specials where they would 99c.

Great for the Walkman, of which I had a few and broke a few also.

The joys of a Sunday pre-internet days, when the Sunday Mail was actually useful for a couple of hours whilst recovering from the night/morning before .. Especially reading through all the scores and detail for nearly all grades, of all football leagues.

My school went to the one at Ridgehaven - our teacher was so horrified at how badly we behaved on bikes she made us go through one of those road safety books for a few weeks!

- On the radio broadcasts of SANFL - "AD Football - Instant Replay" after a great goal.

- The annual KP-24 run at school for those with itchy heads

- Tim The Toyman's shop in Rundle Street (corner of Frome Street)

- Waiting for the moment when you went to the Show, and going straight to Hamilton Hall for the first lot of showbags

- The kids newspaper, "Kids Times". Went for a few years, can't remember how much it was though, but we got it through school

- The twice yearly "Lucky Book Club" through school, getting the order form filled out and getting the order a few weeks later.

State Bank deposit books in the classroom. I'd get 50c to bank each week. Wonder where that money is?

Smokers, everywhere..restaurants, shops etc. My local corner deli owner typically had a Winnie Red hanging out his mouth when I went to get "The News" for Dad in the afternoon.

Mum, do you mean the weekly session where ABC Radio would have a show where we all got out the "Let's Have Music" books and sung along? I had forgotten all about that until today :)

This could be it - but I can't remember where the actual 'audio' part of the lesson came from - whether it was on the radio or on cassette tape ... I just remember having these 'singing and listening books' that had the words that we had to sing along to the audio with.

This is really stretching my memory btw...
