You still get HECS taken out too?? Thats about what I'm expecting. Still pay HECS but get it all back at TAX time. Nice little savings plan, helps pay for XMAS presents, Council rates, GE card, car rego etc.
Best advice I can give to anyone who has a HELP/HECS debt, once it is paid off keep paying it, lovely surprise come tax time. Even though I've changed jobs twice since paying it all off, I still tick YES if they ask me if I have a HECS/HELP debt.

No not HECS -I paid that off a fair while ago (graduated in about 1996). I do opt to pay additional tax throughout the year though - as a forced saving plan and so I don't get a bill from the ATO.am Bays wrote:You still get HECS taken out too??fish wrote:Nice tery MT79 but even though I've got a heap of cash I'm still a tightar$e!mighty_tiger_79 wrote:you little ****fish wrote:My tax return $5,498!![]()

Yep - you can opt to do it when you fill out your tax withholding declaration form which you give to your employer.Quichey wrote:Is this done through your employer?fish wrote:No not HECS -I paid that off a fair while ago (graduated in about 1996).
