Second man on 'urinating' charge
A man has been charged after allegedly urinating on a war memorial in Leeds.
The arrest of the 49-year-old came just a day after a student was sentenced for doing the same on a war memorial in Sheffield in October.
Police were called out on Friday night to a report of a man urinating on the memorial at the corner of Headingley Lane and St Michael's Road in Leeds.
They confirmed a 49-year-old man from Leeds was arrested and charged with outraging public decency.
He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on 8 December.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "At 10.15pm on Friday, police were called to a report of a man urinating on a war memorial at the junction of Headingley Lane and St Michael's Road.
"A 49-year-old man from Leeds was arrested and has since been charged with outraging public decency. "
The day before, 19-year-old Sheffield Hallam University student Philip Laing was sentenced to 250 hours' community service after he was photographed urinating on the city's main war memorial.

Yes, they also finish up in private security and airport security.JAS wrote:I thought a 19yo student urinating on a war memorial was the ultimate in disrespect and was pleased that he got 250 hours of community service. But I'm completely disgusted that a 49yo has now been arrested for the same offence...considering his age this time I hope it's prison and a bloody good kicking...he might be surprised at just how many prison guards and even prisoners are ex-forces![]()
