1) having no insulation... (this will be changing next wednesday as the landlord is now listening to me when i say it 's hot)

2) my electricity bill in the summer! (unfortunately we had to buy a portable refrigerated air con as our house doesn't have one and due to the fact of no insulation the house heats up if the air con is off for half an hour!)

... and it's not over 40 outside. There is only so far that 40 degree air can be cooled by passing it through water.

FWIW we have ducted evaporative chez Pseudo and it works mostly fine. It does get a little uncomfortable during the hottest part of the day when it's pushing 40.

Landlords are notoriously reluctant to spend money...
I made the mistake in building my first house - brick veneer - of not insulating the walls.
Even with ceiling insulation it got hot enough to wilt candles in the living room on the western end.
I was naive then and A V Jennings didn't suggest I'd need wall insulation, though they did suggest other upgrades...
My present house is double brick on a concrete slab with wide eaves - and in the hills..
[Currently 25C in the warmest room and air conditioning not yet turned on.]
