Johno Brown and his attitude/outlook, such a champion bloke (courtesy of: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl ... 6031668923)

BRISBANE Lions captain Jonathan Brown needed six titanium plates, screws and wire to repair his face after his horrific injury last weekend against Fremantle.

Surgeons spent most of Sunday working out how best to repair the mess made of Brown's face after he collided with Docker defender Luke McPharlin's knee.

"My nose is the only thing that came through unscathed," Brown said in his column in Brisbane's Courier-Mail today.

"The medics spent most of Sunday working out what they were going to do, but with a 2cm separation in my jaw I knew I wouldn't eat much for a while."

After a seven-hour operation in which surgeons had to realign his face and close that large gap, Brown said seeing his daughter Olivia put his troubles into perspective.

"You've got no idea how good it was to get a kiss and a cuddle from Olivia after the surgery," Brown said.

"She didn't hesitate after they'd fixed me up -- and it reminded me just what's important. It's only footy.

"It was even better to get home Tuesday night after they cancelled what was to be an extra operation on my throat on Wednesday after deciding the old voice box would heal itself.

"I'm not allowed to chew for five weeks - or four weeks, three days and a few hours now. Tough.

"I'll finish up a real soup expert."

Brown will miss 8-10 weeks of football.

"I'm resigned to losing weight and strength, and ... all the condition of a long, hard pre-season," he said.

"But I'll have no hesitation getting back out there as soon as they give me the green light.

"I'm not about to be silly and will be guided by the specialist, but the good news is he tells me my face will be stronger now than it was."
