A workman has died following an industrial accident in a cafe in a Moray town.
It is believed the 48-year-old man - named locally as Neil Grant - was an electrician carrying out work at Cafe Ecosse in Elgin's High Street.

I got some information by email today that suggests this isn't going to get better.Mickyj wrote:Cardiologist once kept me waiting close to 3 hours .MightyEagles wrote:You get to the doctor on time and have to wait ages for them to see you.![]()
I have a doctors surgery at the end of my street. BUT it takes a week or two weeks to get an appointment.Five minutes away by car is a doctor you don't need an appointment. You may have to wait from 5 minutes to an hour or so BUT that beats a week or two.

Not only are older doctors looking at retiring earlier as the interaction with Medicare and the bureaucracy gets more complex, but the younger graduates have misgivings.
This survey was done in WA among young doctors who had at least elected to do a GP training rotation as part of their first few post-graduate years.
And many of them only want to work in other doctor's clinics part-time -5 to 8 sessions a week [1 "session" is a half-day] - to avoid the growing administration burden.

And I think it was done before the Rudd government decided it wants to use the introduction of a national, instead of a state by state, medical registraton scheme as a vehicle to also give the Minister the power to determine the recognition of qualifications, and review post-graduate further education, instead of the medical colleges.
[Mind you it would make approving the Dr Patels for short staffed public hospitals quicker and easier for governments.]
