Having near-on lived there in the previous two decades it's not a place I get to often these days, so was good to get back there on a quiet Monday evening.

The missus had a Beef Salad of some description, whilst I opted for the Wagyu Steak Sandwich with Onion Rings (kids just had Nuggets and Chips for something different  ).

Both of us were happy enough with our meals - Nothing special about them, but nothing at all wrong with them either. I didn't see the bill because the Mrs paid, but she seemed happy enough with it.

Keen to go back because there's a few decent things on the Menu, so I'm sure we will sometime in the coming weeks.

Atmosphere 5.0 (Monday evening, not the pubs fault)
Food Quality 6.5
Service 9.0
Value 6.0 (without voucher)

Total Rate 6.625

Yes mate .. Rating is low due to atmosphere and value. Atmosphere doesn't fuss me and we'll be heading back with discount again so the value rating is largely irrelevant too

My order is as follows:-

Food

I don't give a crap about the rest. If the food is good, I'm happy. I'm happy to wait for my food as I will just get on the piss while waiting and use that time to catch up on what's been happening with family or friends. If I'm not served drinks when I get there, I will walk up to the bar and order them. One of my fave restaurants in Adelaide is BBQ City and the service can be quite shit there at times but the food is bloody awesome. I keep going back for that simple reason. If I was worried about the service, I'd miss out on one of the best feeds of Chinese every time I go to Adelaide.

Still need to get to Bonney's, any review on their coffee?

Went to the new Flour Store this morning, coffee was pretty good (still searching for a good place down south) although last time I walked into that building was when it was Oceangraffix surf shop in the 90's...bit weird

Big plus to the Nepean Rowing Club in Penrith for good food at reasonable prices and wine without massive mark ups, and the view over the river from the dining area.

Sammy’s on the Marina

No need to go the whole spiel as it’s been mentioned on here before

Lunch today for 12 people

Sublime service, couldn’t be any better

Great food, everyone enjoyed their meals with huge portions although my was the smallest serving. Different meal to others though.

Price was good considering the servings and quality of service

9.5/10 (lost half a point due to my smaller service)

Food - 9

The knocks;

They were flat out on a Sunday lunchtime which meant their service was hampered somewhat. And they opened two weeks ago. We had two orders given to our table that were not ours but they decided after the third person brought them out, to leave them with us.

My wife ordered a wrap, which we then had to ask where it was, after everyone had finished eating.

The wraps were interesting. On your table, you had a pen and pad and circled the elements you wanted in your wrap. You rip that off and take that to the counter when placing your order. When you received the order, the one you completed is under your wrap. Not sure about the hygiene factor but oh well.

Overall I'd go back but not at peak hour. We would've spent for 2 adults and 2 kids (kids eat free Sunday) at least 100 bucks. 500ml pints were $12.50 with a surcharge on Sundays and schnitzels were $25ish.

They do have some specials on which would make it more enjoyable.

You're a brave man for trying so early. I won't be going in until at least after Christmas, everytime I walk past they are absolutely flat out. Will wait until the novelty wears off.

We went last Sunday evening.
Place was absolutely packed but started emptying out at about 7.
I had the Bavarian tasting platter which was awesome. 4 different varieties of sausages that were all excellent, a nice big piece of schnitzel, some amazingly tasted pork belly and was accompanied with mash, sauerkraut, red cabbage, apple compote and a beer jus. Was a brilliant feed. The wife also was complimentary of her meal which was the Pork Belly.
I had 1L of Hofbrau original and the wife had 1L of Lowenbrau original.
Would have given it a solid 9 but lost a point due to being out Hofbrau Dunkel which is my wife’s beer of choice and also the machine being out of order that processes Qantas points. I did however email Qantas and the points were deposited in my account Friday

Hypnothaized - Henley Beach Road, Henley Beach

Opposite the Henley High school in that little row of shops, went along for Mrs Boon's work Xmas dinner. Nice little place, good atmosphere, no Thai people working the floor but they were Thai people in the kitchen.

7pm booking for 14, table was set and ready to go, no spare tables in the place at that time.

Started taking the orders at our end of the table with a whisper from the waitress "We've only got 5 serves of satay's left so if you want some order them quick!". Hmm. Only 5 serves of satay at 7:30 Saturday night when you've got a table of 14 booked? Sure.

Mrs Boon went the satays, I went the scallops. Satays say serve of 3, as per usual, ours arrive with 4 "You got an extra one" the waitress says. Hmm. Scallops topped with a chilli jam that was outstanding, 4 big scallops, cooked perfectly with a satay from the Mrs plate, perfect start to the meal.

I went for Chilli and Garlic prawns for mains, Mrs with Basil chicken and shared a steamed rice. Prawns were top notch, 8 good sized prawns in a chilli, garlic broth with plenty of veggies. Mrs enjoyed the basil chicken to the point of nearly licking the plate clean.

I knocked down 4 pales as we had a driver, she knocked over a bottle of Rose. Total was $105 for the two of us.

Now, we had to get away early as our friends who gave us a lift needed to pick their youngest daughter up, I went up to pay our portion of the bill, I'd added it up to be $103.50, said to the lady at the counter "Make it $105"

"Oh, we don't do split bills". "That's ok, I'll just pay my share, I can tell you what we had"

"I'm sure you can" "Well, it's $103.50 but call it $105" as I hand over the card.

"We don't really do split bills" "Well, how would you like me to pay? I'm shit at doing dishes and cleaning so that's out of the question"

*Huff puff* "I guess I can add up what you had but we don't normally split bills" "I know what I had, it's $103.50 but let's call it $105 and we'll be right"

"Hang on, I'll get a calculator"

Food - 9/10 fantastic, good portion sizes, everyone at the table enjoyed theirs, except for the guy who asked for his 4 fish curry to be extra hot, hey pal, you asked for it, you got it!
Atmosphere - 8.5/10, little bit crowded in a smallish place and one wall is a long bench seat, I hate being stuck on a seat with people either side of me.
Value - 9/10, you get what you pay for, would have been about $55 for the meals without the drinks and the food was excellent.
Service - 7/10, poor form at the end of the night by the lady at the counter, she surely encounters that more often than she appeared to have experience with and having run out of satay's at 7pm on a Saturday night is a bit odd.

Am I likely to return? Yes, for sure, if you like your Thai food I suggest you give it a go too.

Overall - 8.375/10
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.
