Perhaps consulting a professional is the best advice.

I did some research on this as one of my Australian shares is moving to the Nasdaq and I had to decide whetheer to take the US shares or CDIs https://www.vaneck.com.au/blog/etfs/what-is-a-chess-depositary-interest-cdi/

Here's a commentary on the tax situation so I think you are correct Doc.

I would be/am very apprehensive about their shares given the disdain for many things Chinese at the moment but the continual rise of Tiktok which is privately owned (well thats what they call it) given they are a competitor.

Would still be interested to know if GWW did purchase any?

Anyone got any tips on what to consider and the process for buying them? Ive never bought any shares before so I don't really know ow much about the process.

Did you get any?

Down from $323 on Feb 2 to $206 now. BIG loss.

Now down to $164. Pretty much halved.

Bought a heap of Core Lithium not long ago and they doubled in value in just over a month. Now they're nearly back to the price I paid for them. This last fortnight has been yuk.

Below $100 this morning.

Also fined $25 million in the US for failing to keep records on political advertising.

Also fined $30 million in Russia for not taking down "disturbing content".

I went to another of his talks

This year is still Ok - next year not so good
Household savings dropping rapidly
Household construction in trouble - supply / labour problems
But unemployment will still be low

The big problem is health. Staff quitting big time due to stress and crap governments. Not enough newbies coming through to replace those leaving
Malinauskas and Picton doing a Rann and announcing 6 new mental health nurses :partyman: as if its a major new investment - they are just replacing those who have left or are leaving

Just to show how trustworthy the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation are campaigning for Labor in the last state election
Labor actually cut the no of FTE nurses in SA from 12,820 in 2013 to 12,680 in 2017
The Liberal Govt reversed that trend and immediately increased the number when elected in 2018 to a high of 14,473 in June 2021

The Feds cutting $2.4 billion from the health budget has now surfaced yet they can afford to give $2.1Bn to Andrews to pi$$ against the wall
Ramping around Australia must be a myth according to Butler
Mark Butler says modelling is forecasting a fall in the need for hospital services

Ended the year on $120 having recovered from around $88 in early November.

Nearly two thirds wiped off. Savage. Outlook from business analysts varies widely but most expect it to recover this year. Not for me.

I want to chuck some cash into a managed fund and willing to take a decent risk for better rewards.
Anyone got one that they can recommend?

I am sole director of a company which runs my self-managed superannuation fund. So the only costs are for the accountancy work. I got lucky when the Howard government introduced catch up provisions for superannuation just when I had inherited money from a family investment in a real estate enterprise - one that created the Parafield Gardens and Para Hills developments.

I was pleased as a 12 or 13 year old to have some streets named after me, but I've never actually been in one of those streets. I keep thinking I should have a look one day.

I use Colonial First State

Lots of funds in there. Maybe the geared funds if you like risk / reward
Or there are the ETFs that are easier to buy / sell
There's a geared one called GEAR

This is not financial advice

Back up to $323 today. Remarkable recovery from $88.
