Both groups of Road users need to respect each other

Back in the day when I was a University bum I first decided to get into cycling. It was cheap to run and good exercise, I would ride in most days during summer and chain my bike to a pole just like hundreds of other people.

One day on my way home I was riding down Grote Street just past Morphett Road where a small delivery truck was just a bit larger than the 45 deg parking space it was occupying. I was keeping left as much as possible as not to interfere with the light afternoon traffic down Grote Street So I checked behind me and moved out a bit further to move past the truck. Unbeknown to me some idiot in a Commodore was on the other side of the truck and decided to floor it in reverse to get back into the traffic. I had to take evasive action and move further into the centre of the road and as I moved past him I just said 'Watch it' in reaction to nearly being cleaned up. The driver must have had his window down and heard me and proceeded to wind down the passenger side window and hurl abuse at me whilst driving down the road did not let up until past the lights at West Tce

In hindsight I should have slammed into the boot of this pricks car and had him pay for all the damage he cause to my bike/me

also have an issue with cycists and scooter riders being able to ride on major arterial routes with no training or licenses, scooters especially.
why do you need a license for a motorbike (besides to look cool) but not a scooter.

Dumb argument. Majority of cyclists probably have a vehicle at home. Scooters need car licence as well.

Yes, they likely own a car anyway so they do pay. They are also likely paying lots of various state and federal taxes including GST and income tax so I wouldn't call them freeloaders in the system.

That said, I don't mind a nominal license fee as Tipper suggested. How you police it is the issue. No point creating a tiny tax revenue just on the principle of it and then needing to use up all the revenue by paying inspectors or policie to monitor compliance with the system.

its a labour govt. you tax the people then dont bother policing it. as a 2nd hand dealer theyve been doing it to me for years

as far as lane splitting goes (riding between the cars at stoplights) alot of seasoned riders look at this as a safety measure. if youre stuck with traffic on 4 sides of you youve got more cars that cant see you and more likely to be hit. if youre at the front of the line only your mistake can have you fall off. saying that alot of wanker motor cyclists do it cause they can and they think theyre heros.

Perhaps cyclists should go through a "learner's permit" phase, where they wear a nice yellow "L" tag and have training wheels attached to their bike for 6 months?

The added bonus of training wheels is that beginners can learn to unclip their cleats in safety without the fear of falling off their bike ... brilliant!

Well done BG, numbnuts is indeed a cycling term because no amount of padding in knicks can avoid the condition.

Might have to take up cycling because that could come in handy during a footy match.

I've been thinking about buying abike lately and test riding a few.
The other day I re-tested one model I'd ridden before at another outlet and hadn't liked much.
I learned what a difference how you set up the angles on the seat and the handlebars can make...

The cyclist is now suiing Warne

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/entertain ... 6257791706

Seriously, the guy should just shut up and go away - if he wasn't acting like a tool in the first place he wouldn't have been publically humiliated by Warne. You've had your 15 minutes of fame now go crawl back in your hole. The case should be laughed out of court.
