Geez alot of you guys are pussies. Violence isn't the answer. Bullshit. Violence IS THE ANSWER.

Jump out of the bushes with a metal bar and break a kneecap. If he is on your property late at night, he's fair game.

Ensure the grave is adequately marked in case someone happens to fall in it.

Then it was fate.

Is society shit because I would take the violence option or because the law and law makers are useless and allow this stalker to continue to offend?

Unfortunately, not according to the law - if you assault your stalker, even on your property you could be charged.
You are allowed to protect yourself from assault, but, in the long period it may take the Police to come, remember not to use what the law may regard as excessive force in doing so... :?

Yep was going to say that too - start this straight away, including a historical record of incidents to date, from memory. Sign and date each entry. Also take photos of the "gifts" that are left.

It would also be good to get some confirmation of who it is - maybe get a burly bloke friend to stake him out and take a photo or something?

Too bad if you're someone on the property at night but causing no problems - eg a friend coming to visit - and then due to bad lighting around the property, mistaken by a vigilante, for the stalker, and subsequently smashed over the head.

The point I'm making is if people take the law into their own hands, there's always the possibility that someone innocent will get involved.

You do the nice, legal thing ( i.e. calling the police, asking the guy to leave ).
You do that nice thing until he becomes a physical threat, then use reasonable force to stop them from leaving ( except on a stretcher ).
Then do the nice thing again.

This is why people still do these things. People sit around thinking about it too much. Act on first instinct.

I challenge anyone to give me an example of violence solving a situation.

Just beat the shit out of the bloke and she'll be apples right?

Wrong.

You'll be up for assault at best, manslaughter at worst. He'll still be ****** in the head, that's if he has one left. Mother in law will still be traumatised, and now with the realisation that her daughter is with a violent SOB. And you, you will be no better than the bloke you just beat up.

Keep a diary and call the cops. Stay over. Do whatever you have to do, but leave the use of force to those who are mandated (and adequately trained) to use it.

Rwanda?

The UN stood and watched whilst thousands upon thousands were killed and women rounded up in front of their observers and placed into rape camps, the UN took no action and the UN commander ended up with a nervous breakdown because the UN would authorise no action, a neighbouring country became worried about invasion, sent in there army who killed the abusers and the killing and violence stopped and peace was restored, at which time the UN took charge of the clean up. Violence solved the situation and had violence in the form of war been used earlier far fewer people would have died.
