Didn't realise the passion for this nursery rhyme.

Maybe we should heritage list the nursery rhyme to protect our way of living.

How this even rates as a concern to the fabric of society is beyond me.

I think people are being over sensitive to the over sensitives

Agree with this, although like the blackface skit on Hey Hey, if you dont understand why it is offensive, no amount of explanation will change your mind.

The real outrage should be the fact that 'rainbow' doesn't really fit the rhythm of the nursery rhyme. If it's about a sheep that stands out from the flock and doesn't conform, how about "baa baa goth sheep".
It's all the SANFL's fault.

im not being racist or nor am i a racist person but i dont believe in the indigenous all stars against the AFL match they have. Im sure if the AFL did a white caucasion team only against the AFL then things would be said by lots of people

Not accusing anyone of being racist , just don't understand people getting upset over the changing of the colour of a sheep in a nursery rhyme.

Its not that they changed it, its the fact that they thought there was a need to change it. Its the symbolism of how things are in this day and age, rather than the change itself.

You are dead set kidding. It is a game that allows one significant minority in our society to come together and represent their culture in a sporting fixture. It is no different then having one nation playing against another or even state against state.
Your point might have some validity in it if the all stars game was just all black players playing but you wont see Josh Gibson, Harry O'Brien, Mal Michael or Majok Daw playing in it any time soon. Time to pull your head out of the sand IMO.

agreed im just saying why cant we have a all white caucasion team playing the ALF like the indigineous team that plays the AFL. Im saying if this happened there would be alot of people talking.

but you cant even scratch yourself like i said in a previous post anymore without it upsetting someone or something.

Interesting point made and i can see where you are coming from. I think the contention has to be that there is not a unifying bond for a "white caucasion" team like there is for the indigenous team matches. I would agree with you if there was a game between a white team and a black team with nothing tying them together except for the colour of skin.

My purely personal response to the do-gooders:

1, It is a traditional rhyme and the supposed "bad" meaning is moot - so leave it alone.
2. It is petty to worry about such minor things, but fair to retaliate to your pettiness when it affect others.
3. Don't try to impose your silly prejudices on me.

What's next? Change Aesop's fables, rewrite the Grimm fairy tales, and sanitise The Canterbury Tales.
[They've already done in Enid Blyton and Biggles.]
