Planning on coming to Adelaide apparently.
Although I won't be in a hurry to try one.

Adding another money spinner to the Peregrine Corporation, aka the Shahin family. Will be in most On The Run outlets before we know it.

Can't knock the business smarts of that family, they know what to get into.

I'd much rather Tim Hortons donuts, especially the honey cruller.

I wish Peregrine would not stuff their stores with everything, as it's always too busy to grab a few quick items without being held up by someone in front of you wanting a coffee or lotto. That's why I only shop at servos these days.

Missed this topic first time around. I must say I feel embarrassed that my fellow Australians went mad over this.
KK opened in Fukuoka about 3 years ago. There were lines over 3 hours for the first week.
As a foreigner, "doing it tough" on the Japanese culinary plateau, where small and subtle tasting are the unwritten laws that keep out Burger King, meat pies, lasagna, good Aussie (or American) pizzas etc. any U.S franchise opening a food stall within reach is a cause for excitement. I waited about 30 mins and bought a dozen various flavored donuts.
I thought they were waaaayyyy underfilling. The price of just one is quite high and no way would one fill anyone. Except maybe Japanese people, perhaps they made them smaller for the Japanese market? Taste was okay though.
Anyway, after that experience I found myself lusting after the good old Aussie bakery donut. If you have access to them there'd be no need for KK. surprised they succeeded in Australia if even for a short time.

I have never understood why people bring literal boxloads of the bloody things in their carry-on luggage when flying from the eastern states. They're donuts ferchrissakes...

Amen, and they'd be almost stale by the time they got back to Adelaide.

I've never been a great fan, too sickly - although I think I tried a coffee custard flavoured one once that was quite nice.

Don Homer may think differently though:

...but I think Krispy Kremes are the best. Their glazed doughnuts are my favourites, especially when they're hot. There's that Dreamy Doughnut place at the airport (and will be opening at Elizabeth soon) which is basically an Australian equivalent of Krispy Kremes. They're alright, but nothing compares to Krispy Kremes.

yeah they are alright, one of the benefits of having previously worked at the Airport was a daily supply of atleast a dozen donuts :D

Walker's Doughnuts are Heaps better than krappy Kreme. I have never seen why Krappy Kreme are so rated. Over Priced and crap. My kids like Krappy Kreme I don't I prefer decent doughnuts and a pineapple one too.

I want to know the best donut you've ever eaten and from where. Coz I'm sure Krispy Kreme isn't the be all and end all of the donut world.

The old school Pineapple donuts when I was a kid .. None of this yellow icing on top, but alround glaze. Would have walked over my old lady to get one as plump 7 year old!!

PS: Sorry ma xo
