Probably not, though I agree with Wedgie that the odds for the existance of aliens is more favourable than that for God (the God of Religions at least) although some theories of cosmology don't preclude the xistance of a "God" or supreme being or consciousness I think it is drawing a very long bow to suggest such a being would have an interest in us. I once saw a UFO at around midday in the late 70s, very large cylindrical, metallic and able to travel at high speed in total silence it was about 3kms away, I stopped my car to look at as did a couple of other cars travelling in the same direction. It may well have been aliens I suppose, but as a sceptic I tend to think it was more likely to be of earthly (secret) origin. Despite at least 5-6 other people including myself seeing it, I never saw anything reported in the press. Unlike Pysber I did tell my father who suggested that I should not have been driving drunk

My experience was interesting.
I was walking home around dusk, kicking a tin can along the road as kids do, when I heard a crackling noise.
I looked up and spotted at about 45 degrees of elevation and slightly to my left a classic biconvex "saucer" shape like two tea saucers set face to face.
It was angling down at about 40 degrees from horizontal flight and spiraling about its path so I saw it both as a disk and the saucer shape as it rotated.
It was glowing a dull cherry red and trailing sparks. It looked just a little smaller than the moon looks high in the sky and regular in shape.
Then it stopped, went silent, hovered for a few seconds, and went straight up very rapidly.
I have no explanation for what I saw. It was late 1953 or early 1954.

Congratulations to both of you on admitting your personal observations with such frankness.
I've always tried to forget a rather disturbing childhood experience, but your candidness has
forced me to remember something that happened to my cousin and I on Sydney's North Shore
during the mid 60's. We've never discussed this strange occurence, so I'll contact him sometime
and quiz him about his recollections before facing the possibility of public ridicule here and elsewhere.
Suffice to say, I have no doubts whatsoever that we are not alone in this immeasurable universe.

i know they could fly away with some teenagers (male and female) the chicks gets knocked up in massive orgie's they look after them untill they get to old and then push them into space.. the kids will be brain washed and think this is okay to do so when they get old so they will do the same when they get older.. this will continue for centuries then finally they will realise there is nothing out there and return to earth to find no living persons because the aliens took over and destroyed all mankind and they will start human life all over again..

I know a guy from California who related a story to me with some reluctance.
In the late 1980's he had just arrived outside his shop overlooking the San Francisco Bay. It was very early in the morning, before the sun had risen, but he claimed that everything lit up so bright that he suddenly cast a very clear shadow on his shop door, he thought someone behind him was using an arc-whelder. He turned and looked into the skies to see a bright light, trailing across the sky. He described mostly the brightness of the object, and said that it seemed to be pulsing irregularly. It changed directions a couple of times, very sharply, and then went straight up.
There were many calls into the local radio stations about it, and they promised to look into it and said that they would update once they knew more.
There were no updates, and the incident was never mentioned on radio or any other media again.

As I posted in my first on this thread, if Einstein was right and we could not exceed the speed of light, the Centauri system is about 4 years away.
We could do that now if we had the motivation to spend the money the use the ion rockets we know how to build already.
Acceleration and deceleration would stretch the journey out a bit more than 4 years, but it is not hundreds of years.

If, however, there is a way to exceed light speed, and we find it, that shortens the time.
[Some Dutch scientist did claim to have successfully propelled sub-atomic particles a short distance at greater than light speed a few years ago.]

If space is curved enough for there to be "space-warp" short-cuts it may not be necessary to exceed light speed. This is still regarded as possible by theorists in Astrophysics.
