Again …

2 days ago, onset in the right big toe, which also happens to have a bunion, so dose up on aspirin as usual, which does the trick and the pain subsides that day … hooray.

Yesterday, onset in the left big toe … WTF. Fairly mild pain early on, then late night the pain worsens, to the point that I hardly got any sleep and here I am.

I use to suffer regularly, but not for many years now … and now twice this year, and this time in both toes.

Most painful thing i have ever endured, i used to get it very bad and at times couldnt even walk, i had a bad attack in my right foot driving back from Melbourne many years ago and was alone, thank goodness for cruise control, pretty quick self lesson on left foot braking was under taken

Hope the pain subsides quickly for you, im on daily medication now and have been for 5 years and touch wood been all good but Xmas is always a worrying time

I take Allopurinol daily & it does the job, reckon I’ve only had one attack in the last 3 years - then I take Prednisolone for a few days & it calms down. I’ve had it in both knees, both ankles, toes & even my wrist. Wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy.

Yep, not something I’d even recommend to my worst enemy, I don’t know how you managed to drive like that!

Went to the Doc (the other one) this morning for a script, so hopefully it will subside by tomorrow.

Ironically, I had bloods done last Thursday, got the results this morning, but Uric Acid levels were normal … Doc was slightly stumped.

This is only the 3rd time in 20 years that I’ve needed a script, the other times I’ve managed it myself, although I was told 20 years ago to dose up on aspirin, which isn’t recommended now (I found out today). Funny thing is that it seemed to work.

Anyway, not a candidate for ongoing meds, but now have plenty of stock of strong meds to deal with any future episodes.

Had some spare time today so drove out to their depot at Gillman. There was a line up & everyone had their own “special” story about this wonderful company. The blokes behind the counter were doing a great job, told us they’re 3 days behind in sorting. They would grab your tracking no & go out to the warehouse & look for your item. They seem to be finding most & found mine as well. So I’ve had a win as the free of charge replacement is coming today via Australia Post. ($300 worth of spices, rubs & marinades)

Try Chamomile tea a few times a day when you have it
You have to almost be vegetarian during an attack, except for the deadly nightshade family of veges

Cherries ( the fruit type) are good as well when in season, i eat 20 a day as they are said to prevent gout

Arthrexin (active ingredient Indometacin) is working a treat.

Bonus is that not only is it a good treatment for acute gout, but also the severe osteoarthritis I have in both knees, so have now got a stockpile to last a while.

Hooray, I can get some sleep tonight.

Back spasms

Just came on here to post pinched nerves in the lower back. Usually go away after some movement but had to leave work after only an hour this morning. Getting a CT scan tomorrow as am still in pain with tingling sensations down right glute & hamstring.

PS. The reason I put the smiley face is from the drugs I've been prescribed. Woohoo

So after 2 weeks & an MRI, turns out I've got 2 bulging discs & one herniated disc.

4 weeks today & still not much better. Getting an injection tomorrow in the L4/5 disc to hopefully help with the pain so I can at least get back to work soon.

How’s it now?

The injection has taken most of the pain away, mainly just discomfort now. If I do too much lifting etc it starts to hurt.
Had to harrow the horse paddocks which were bloody rough & that stuffed me up for a couple of days.
Did manage to get out on the motorbike (off road dirt bike) last weekend & that was ok on the smooth stuff or standing up through the rough parts. Meant to be doing a big adventure ride in August so hopefully all good by then. That's only going to be 4wd tracks through the little & big desert national parks so shouldn't be too rough

Well that injection helped for 6 months. Had a flare up a couple of weeks ago after driving a truck with a sh!t seat & suspension then doing some farm work & heavy lifting. Had another injection last Thursday so hopefully that will ease some pain until symptoms cease. Apparently it takes between 48 hours & a week to settle in, sometimes the injection doesn't do anything.
Funnily enough, the 1500km mainly off road ride actually seemed to help.
