Been building a house over the last 12 months, about 3 months to go the builder reckons. Gives me the sh1ts how drawn out COVID has affected tradies, the building industry going bananas, costs of things have gone up a ridiculous amount. Yes our house will be worth more, but we had to skimp out on the back door as we could only afford to put 3 on instead of 4, and only only got stairs that go up but can't go down to save 30%

Lad I know got the keys to his house about 4 weeks ago, valuation went up $130k from when they signed the contract to build to when they got the keys.

I hear builders are offering one off payments to customers to break their contracts as they will be running at a loss on the previously agreed contract. Also asking govt for assistance to bridge the gap.
