Yeah, I beat my son at Wimbledon a couple of weeks ago.

Every now and then me and some mates get a ball, place a couple of bags at each end on a park, and play a casual game of EPL.

The Sunrise story this morning about Pearcey playing 800 footy matches. According to Sunrise, he's played 800 AFL matches.

Because the show is Sydney-centric, they have to use the term AFL so the rugby-ites don't get confused

Back in the days before AFL hegemony it was sufficient to use the terms "league", "union", "rules" or "soccer" to differentiate between codes for the run-ball fans.

Yep, the sport is so widely referred to now as "AFL", as driven by the media. I correct people when given the opportunity, as it certainly gives me the sh1ts.

I love being a smart arse about it if they say it to me. Ask if I can grab there signature of if they can get me tickets to the game this weekend.
