This happens at light square coming from Weymouth Street. THe spuds at the front want to get in the far lane, so hold up masses of traffic, instead of keeping the traffic flowing and changing lanes when they can.

What I've found to be a constant in a few decades on the road is that so many drivers just seem to lack adequate technique with slip lanes when it comes to watching oncoming traffic, gauging the gaps, adjusting speed, merging accordingly and keeping the traffic flowing.
Too many just slow down to a crawl (or worse, stop a fraction of the way into the lane) and deny cars behind them safe, smooth merging opportunities. I can think of a couple of slip lanes that consistently provide diamond studded examples, but I'm sure there are many others around Adelaide alone.
