I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

I rate the "Rezz" (formerley Reservoir Hotel off Gorge Road at Newton) ... went there for my birthday and was treated to a 1st class meal and wonderful service... was more like up an upmarket restaurant (without the prices) than your standard counterie ... very kid friendly too, with activity packs given to al little'ns (I dont have any ankle biters but my bro does) ... check it out www.rezz.com.au (website under construction) call them and they will fax/email a sample menu of their cuisine.
RIP my DH 1964 - 2009 - You were one of the best and I miss you

Good luck tomorrow mate. My kid is gutted after missing selection for his granny in the Under 14's tomorrow. Hope it pisses down and they lose now.

Been through that before myself REB - upside in the end was the same team made it into the grand final the year after and that time he was selected - even kicked a goal...lol.

But the poor kids - always someone who has to miss out and it's hard on them.

Trust me it is no easier when you are an adult, and unsurprisingly the reactions to getting dropped can be very similar to the kids!

LMAO - True. I put my argument forward, believe me. ;) I still missed selection and the bloke who left mid-year to move to Melbourne with 0 games after the Christmas break still took my spot.

I wished no ill on the team, in fact my best mate was skipper and was over ruled by the VC and the President, believe it or not. For my mate I wanted them to go on and win it.

*This was in a Semi-Final mind you and the team lost the game to progress no further.

I got dropped for a U17 GF Thursday night.
Played every game all year.
Phone call 11pm that night back in.

Then lost by 7 pts after being up 3 goals at 3qtr time.

Hurtful.

Nah he's not going. Mum might crash the huddle. A slightly different situtation. He might want to go but I reckon the Missus is spewing more than the Cub.

Yeah mate I remember that one. When I was skipper I reckon I had a better time of it when we couldn't win a chook raffle than the year after when we won the flag. I wasn't a popular lad at that last selection night but I didn't get a say on who got selected at all. The Prez knew best of course as we won the day but that's not much consolation to those who missed out. Copped a nasty bouncer from one of them in the nets too which was a bit rude because he didn't know that I was the one who wanted him in!

Not many numbers out in Ipswich for Aussie Rules (NOT calling it AFL! Jeez some successful marketing by Vlad there!). Once you go West from here it's all Rugby League. Even Union doesn't get a look in. He would be in Under 16's but our club hasn't had an Under 16's side for two years now. I advised him to play another sport for a few years but if he's still keen on footy he can play in the Seniors for the Ipswich Eagles.

Similar here. i played every game all year. first game i spent most of it on the bench, but from round 2 on i was the one and only ruck with no bench time. injuries in the a grade draggeed the other rucks up...

we finished second on the ladder, and the only time i set foot on the ground come finals time was to carry a water bottle. i had seen the writing on the wall though a fgew weeks before, one disadvantage of having a shit a grade side is players dropping back down for finals.

i dont hold anything against the team, or any selectors, particularly when one of the guys that rucked in the granny got an elbow to the forehead, and bled everywhere from a massive split, but played on the rest of the game. something like that would have sent me into next week!!

the most moving thing for me was after the game, back at the club, the coach gave me his premiership medallion in thanks... i believe it was peake's first ever b grade premiership, and i still get all emotional thinking about it. hopefully they can add a second flag to the 07 one tomorrow.
