Yeah i think that was how it went. It was bad. I reckon Doogie Howser used to follow it on the channel 10 schedule. I didn't mind that program.

Yes, certainly was. Very good at its peak, but went downhill slowly.

That was around 87 i think....a few years prior to that, there was an ABC comedy program called "Australia You're Standing In It", from memory Rod Quantock was in it, "Tim and Debbie" a couple of bogan druggies were probably the most memorable characters.

Anyone remember "Let the Blood Run Free" on channel 10. Pete Rowsthorn was it as Orderly Warren Cronkshonk. It was almost so bad it was good. The sets on the show probably reflected the fact that channel 10 was broke at the time.

Rated very badly in Australia, but for some reason, the UK and Europe loved it so much that the station made another season specifically for these overseas markets - that season never screened in Australia.

When there were giant, black, "stencil" destination boards at Adelaide Railway station, that used to be put up and taken down manually, showing times, platforms and stations of trains that day.

One of my favourite shows of all-time .. The DAAS, Jean Kitson doing her news presenting (Wayne "Lightning" Truscott and Aldo "Rubberhips" Spinnetti), Pate Biscuit and the Empty Pockets (who would always beat the crap out of each other before grabbing a remote and flicking some porn on for a few seconds).

Absolutely loved it, along with "Theatre Sports"

The Main Event was hosted by Larry Emdur, before he switched to 9 to host The Price Is Right.

Aw, I'm not nearing 40 and I remember and watched those shows. And The Main Event. I remember the promo for Don't Forget Your Toothbrush saying it was "Better than sex". There was a main prize at the end where the contestant either went to some place exotic place or a small town. One of those small towns was Policemans Point! There was a woman who had been working on a 5000 piece jigsaw puzzle who was offered a certain amount of dollars to tip the half finished puzzle over. She accepted. ;)

I concur with others regarding Don't Forget Your Toothbrush. Great concept IMO but didn't last long.

I loved (the late) Paul Chubb hosting Theatre Sports, that was just simply BRILLIANT as a TV programme.

I remember back in the ollllddd days when Australia You're Standing In It was on. It brought to life the Dodgy Brothers, "Brain Space" with Tim and Debbie and Rod Quantock just being himself. It was this series that introduced Chunky Custard to us all. And how to cook Mars Bars with (I think) Paul Denham (can't be sure of spelling though). I remember BBQ Mars Bars, pickled Mars Bars....just plain weird.

AYSII still lives today in society with a race horse called Chunky Custard, and of course the cover band of the same name.

"Ludwig, do your impression of Moomba. For those of you who've never been that's very ,very accurate."

That show that had cooking with Mars Bars cooking was Ratbags and not AYSII, but it did have Rod Quantock on it. It use to be on Channel 10 at some ungodly hour. John Derum was the chef. He was the narrator in the original series of Aunty JAck.
Also for those with good memories Theatre Sports had a competing team called "Get Her" from Adelaide. They contained Francis Greenslade and Shaun Miccallef.

I remember Ratbags :) ..."Welcome to Ratbags, the highest rating show on Channel 10...for the next hour".

Anyone have those Game And Watch electronic hand held games? The year they took off at my school, it looked like a read-a-thon all over the playground, with heads down, looking into hands.

When Michael Jackson ruled the music world for his music, and not just his habits.

Getting your first Rubik's cube, Walkman or BMX bike. The year a Walkman arrived for Christmas was the year that battery sales leapt through the roof around my area.
