Playing in the over 35's comp up at GG after playing in the mixed City comp last year with work. Not sure how many other clubs are utilising their oval over the spring for 9's but great atmosphere and numbers with both over 35's and family comp. Good little money spinner to get participants back in the club rooms afterwards for a beverage or two.

And yes, will always be 1 or 2 flogs taking it way too seriously/abusing umpires....

Yeah I'm hearing really good things about the Golden Grove comps. Glad it is going well. Hope to get out there soon for a look and a quiet froth. I agree completely on the Spring/Summer concept being an ideal fit for clubs and great for all parties involved.

Sorry for going off topic a bit mods. I'm surprised to hear you left the city as it was always a good provider of the visual stimuli that the average bloke seems to enjoy but fair play to you for supporting your club. 8)

that's because the government and councils have spent millions of dollars on specialised bike trails into the city and the bastards won't use them.

This is what shits me.

It's a fair point, but, people walking along these trails and people with their kids, or people who are simply commuting are a different thing to full lycra clad cyclists.

Full lycra clad cyclists doing 40kmph should not be on these paths, IMO. I ride a day or two a week, about 10k's from home to work. I don't hit many main roads, not many trails, it's quite easy for people to find safer routes. They just need to investigate and do so. I'd never ride along Port Road, or South Road, Or Anzac Highway even with a designated bike lane.

Can't we just all get along?

I do, but I might forget next time I use the last sheet.

I've already made signs for above the toilet "clean up your piss", on the door "(business name) employees only", hand towel dispenser "refill if you use the last sheet".

Now Im gonna have to make another one.

The place looks like Ned Flanders holiday house.

What shits me is many of the designated bike trails are littered with broken glass, rocks etc.... be ****** if I am gonna ride my $5k bike on them. Would you drive your $50k car in a paddock?

actually, we spent over $60k on our car, and yes, i do drive it in a paddock, every chancce i get. its quite fun actually, you should try it. just make sure you use the right paddock, the farmer usually gets a bit shirty when you do it in the middle of the crop....

So its a 4 wheel drive that is built for that purpose... makes perfect sense..... I think we have 2 different arguments here!

Yes and no. The current car is a 4wd, but i also did it in my ss ute, and thats far from high riding, and was north of 50k to purchase. Circlework is fun.

I just dont see the argument that because there is "crap" in the cycle lanes you wont ride there. Get some decent puncture resistant tyres, and suck it up. Inconveniencing other road users in no way makes them sympathetic to cyclists, there needs to be give and take, on both sides
