My son is very much into the downhill racing, state championships have been there (lone gum track) for the last 3 years. there will be a heartbreaking amount of wildlife lost in there.

Got a mate at Woodside who had to leave, he's not sure how his place fared.

Where abouts in Woodside. I'm in the Jacaranda/Saint Marks estate. A couple of properties on the edge of this estate lost sheds but fortunately no houses lost. Pretty sure all houses in the town are ok. Saw 2 houses up on Ridge Road burnt out & a couple on the main road towards Lobethal.

We live on the top/paddock side of Grevillea Way Cracka and were awfully lucky. Fire reached and made a bit of a mess of our fence but didn't make it into the yard. My parents also live in the estate now and (stubbornly) stayed behind, so to be on the phone to them while they stood in the street trying to explain what was going on was quite terrifying. (

How long have you lived there. We built our 1st house on Gardenia Dr in 97, moved out to the corner of Gallas & Tiers rd in 07, then back into Saint Marks in 2014. Wife's sister is on the corner of Jacaranda & Gardenia, her mother is in Honeysuckle & her cousin was one of the places that lost a shed on Jacaranda.
photo is of our Gardenia Dr house from the week I moved in which shows the view towards Ridge Road before Grevillia Way was built.

Coming up to 5 years on Grevillea, and prior to that lived on Gardenia for roughly 6 years.

Ah right, so you know half the estate it seems :) I know the family that lost a shed on Jacaranda, the one which held cars..

Thanks for putting the photo up.

Lived in or around Woodside since I was 7. Parents had 15 acres on Pfeiffer Rd just above the New Era estate. We had the actual mine shaft on our property as the old man was a geologist.
Its actually the 1st fire I can remember to affect Woodside so badly.

Found out yesterday that the gentleman who passed away in the fires is the father of friend of ours....

We never met him but still a horrible situation...

The inlaws sold and moved out of their home on prairie road in Cudlee Creek 7 months ago.

They moved to Kersbrook for a smaller property, today they found out their old house was burnt down completely.

Luckily I suppose the new owners had no animals or live stock and made it out themselves so no lives lost.

Life hey.

Mate at Woodside thankfully ended up getting through unscathed. A woman at work is in Charleston, the fire got to within 2 houses of her, she said if not for the CFS the whole town was stuffed. She had a couple of horrible stories about animals getting caught up in it.

This is the 11th day over 40° in 2019, this is the same number of 40° days for the entire 10 years from 1960-1969 at the West Tce.

More coming too, at least 3 more; Saturday, Sunday and Monday

Spoke with another ex-work mate who lives outside Birdwood, its black all around their house but it survived because local farmers stayed back to defend it and the area. Unbelievable.

Good!

Apparently Adelaide is going to see SFA of this apparent apocalyptic rain.. as long as those who need it more actually DO get it, then I'm not so fussed (although it would be nice)
